Development Update 1 - June

I think we should cool our thrusters for a short time with the 'when we will get this new thing added in' questions.
..
Nobody asked for FPS or the destruction of every aspect of the "mostly functional" base game.
Of the latter which I am still utterly speechless and flabbergasted on how they managed to
accomplish so effortlessly in one fell swoop.

Folks, we know this is a sensitive subject to many of us, but please remember to stay civil and polite.

Constructive criticism is welcome but directly attacking employees is not on and against the rules.

The moderation team are working in the background and appreciate the emotions but as I said, please keep it civil.

Thanks all.

When I get the product I paid for, I'll be more than happy to give a rousing chorus of whatever company song you like!

I have now, what, 50 hours in EDO and if it hadn't been for Reddit and these forums I'd never have known about this issue. I have seen bizarre screenshots where it is super obvious, but I can easily see how QA missed it given my own experiences.

I'm not even sure it's an "issue" so much as just an accepted (by the devs, initially, before the backlash) feature of the new terrain generation technology that many in the community understandably hate but are blowing out of proportion.

You can see the exact same type of repeating patterns on planets in other space games, including Star Citizen and (at a smaller scale) Horizons.

They seem to be more obvious in Odyssey vs Horizons, and I expect any fix will just be making them a bit less obvious rather than doing away with them entirely, as it seems to be an inherent artifact of the technology necessary to create full size planets with varying geomes at a reasonable performance level.

Seams that FDevs lied to us once again with their empty promises. Do you want them to listen? Our actions can get to them, so:
  • not buying arx
  • not buying skins for ships or weapons
  • not buying clothes
  • not buying ship extensions
  • not buying cockpit stuff
  • not buying any of the future updates before release

Better for whom? ;)
Better for the community.

Sneaking out a post like this just before closing up for the day is seems a very cynical move.

I feel sorry for the Community Managers here, as it really seems like they are being pushed in front of a bus, but this post could have been posted up at 09:00, and allowed engagement with the community. Instead, I'm left feeling deflated, and knowing that there will be no clarifications from the CM team, only more bitterness and circular posts.

In my prior experience, I don't hold out much hope that there will be much response tomorrow either.
