Development Update 1 - June

I sincerely hope Frontier will take note of this, and stop supporting them in the future.
Oh they will. brook no dissension and hold a grudge for ever - no more site visits or free plants for OA.
Having said that, apart from a recent discussion about the joke of their development update, Obsidian Ant hasn't done an Elite video in two weeks (but nine other video's about other flying games), so, y'know...

Noticed the silence of the CMs since Thursday update?

You say you see it, yet you post a different picture, because you can't back up his fake "Every landable planet uses repeating terrain" conspiracy theory.
You are just like D2EA, who found one planet and suddenly it's an 8 minute video of how everything is broken in ED while reposting same old images in his vid, and then wait and behold OA picks up his story in his next video, claiming it as facts too.
That's why they will always be second rate tubers.

I sincerely hope Frontier will take note of this, and stop supporting them in the future.

Although, I'm not going to say "every"... some are too bland. A lot of them, though, yes.

Edit: ... and what have youtubers got to do with me? why make it personal, I'm sure that's against FD's rules, discuss the post not the poster.

Edit 2: Here's a good one though, there may be patterns (I know this exists on others), but its a bit more of a where's wally / waldo fashion.. Great place to visit though.

Yeah, the UK have this thing called 'The Weekend'. I would tell you about it, but it is marked TOP SECRET ;)
Yea, because the UK utterly closes down at the weekend - oh wait, no it doesn't. Plenty of people work at the weekends. It's a thing.
Also, they had all day Thursday and Friday to say... something, anything... and chose not to (or were told not to - same difference from our perspective).
Loving the New Era of frank and open communication.

I hope you are not seriously complaining the CMs have weekends in which they don't work, because that would be a pathetic opinion to hold.

Anyway, personally the terrain doesn't bugvme much, it's more of an annoyance on general principle. When I am just playing I don't really notice it myself, but some might be more sensitive to it.

Can you do me a favour? Bag up this older folk/younger folk line of argument/discussion and throw it in the bin where it has always belonged.

I can think of any number of splits of opinion I've seen about games over the years and of all the demographics that you can split players into when trying to analyse them, age has to be one of the least useful and with the least correlation with any particular opinion you could mention. About the only thing I will say age might be relevant for is that those of us with a few years on the clock tend to be a bit more forthright in calling absolute bull :poop: out when we read it. Which y'know... I just did.
I have absolute nothing against elderly people - but it is a fact, that this game is played by a lot of people who played already Elite in the 20s century, who have some nostalgia about this game and are satisfied with a lot less than younger people will. Simply because younger people grew up with a lot more technology and have higher expectations than those older players. How could one otherwise be satisfied with Elite - it lacks in content in comparison with other space games and there isn't really a lot to do either. This might not be that obvious to those, who were already satisfied with that less content when they were much younger, but it is certainly obvious for younger people. And that is why this matters - Elite is carried by this age group, otherwise it might have been dead already. Nostalgia is what carries this game. But it can do this just for so long and then?

No, if they have weekends off, that's cool but when it was pointed out in Sallies thread about invisible rocks not being fixed (by more than one person) there was no response (that I saw - there were a lot of posts), and no response to the worsening performance (for some), broken / missing missions and in fact a much lower posting number compared to the two weeks previous.
Terrain doesn't really bug me that much either apart from it looking cheesy, I notice the lighting and shadows more (plus the invisible rocks - would love to know why they're so hard to fix).

Omg what is this obsession with repeatble textures. SC has few planets and uses it all over them. Why keep on nitpicking at problems that don't exist.

Omg look same buildings in this city:

Go file a petition to demolish them!
Not going to comment on apartments as I don't want to make you look sillier than you already did. But the "obsession" wiv repeating cookie cutter plannets is that odyssey is ment to be new upgraded fandangled planetary tech that is IRL worse dan what it replaiced. So the 5 year old tech was better dan the new upgraded version - OK? WRT to SC it might have repeats like this but it's still an alpha, and neva claimeds to be a 6 year old title on its third gen of planet tech. Repeats like these should have been dialed out from Dangerous --> Horozons or Horizons to Beyond - not INTRODUCED at this point - planet creation is supposed to be mature tech now, not making infantile cookie cutter mistakes like this.

I know you jest, but.... You don't know the half of it.... We'd both be banned if I told you about it all...

I took umbrage with radio silence on Thursday...
46 pages, many valid questions asked and worthy points raised, yet not one Dev / CM reply.....
I guess that sinz we still talking about their radio silence in this thread on Sunday night proves that gonna ...

I understand now. You are literally incapable of not writing crap. You could have just said that.

Also I don't think the word 'elderly' means quite what you think it means.

France stole it, and call it "Le Weekend". Don't tell anyone!
Also the D is silent, because why not.

People usually work 5 days a week here. I don't know about the UK but I believe it's the same. If they work on Saturdays, they typically don't work on Mondays. Anyway, there's nothing surprising about them not replying during le weekend.

They really are bad, not a scifi paint job amongst them (at least where the guns are concerned)...
Development update was a joke, patch 5 was a joke. Wake me when they fix their broken <redacted> game!
Jungle Camo paint job in space (or anywhere but atmospheric planets with lush jungles)? Makes sense!
Ice camo in space? Spot on!
Snake wrap? Super immersive!
Recolored fins? Innovative!
Guy from forum who churns out 100 pain jobs in a couple of hours the entire community would buy in a heart beat? NO WAY!
T9 or T10 cow paint job? Mah Immershun!!

I wonder if any of the CMs or Devs are even reading along?
They emphasised how they would communicate more with the community, which was highly welcomed.
Personally, I can't really see any CM or Dev posts lately.

I almost spit my beer all over myself when I read this...lol. Younger people don’t like shallow games! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha........... I think you got your age groups reversed. It’s the younger generation of gamers that have let companies get away with producing the crap we are seeing now.
