Development Update 1 - June

So if the devs can't fix the repeating planetary features, which is too much of a technical challenge for the devs, which seems odd because it's something the devs created... Revert back to Horizons/Beyond planetary generation, but keep the atmospheres and the new biological distribution?

I really have to admit defeat, it's hard to stay positive after making a show of myself being a fanboy on social media, for someone who is primarily an explorer, bumping into the same mountain range, and the same fissures on multiple planets seems like such a step backwards.

I just don't want to play your game anymore and that is so sad for someone who has multiple accounts and over 70 weeks of playtime. I'm going to put it on the back burner, come back in a year or two maybe or sooner if your "increased communication" and "dev updates" piques my interests. I can't believe I preordered Odyssey twice for two of my accounts.

I can tell you what I think what that means - there is not even enough time to do the console release in time - they will most likely have to postpone that as well, because if they can't finish it, it won't pass the approval process for console games. I guess most of the team are working to get the console version done and it is already against all odds to get this done in time. This update is the last we will get before console launch, that is what I think - or maybe a smaller one with a few fixes of rather irrelevant stuff, but which can be done by artists and doesn't require coding staff.

Just to be clear, I'm not stating that as a fact - it's my personal impression and opinion about the matter.

I agree, Lysette. It would be nice to have the question answered though.

So let's be clear.........

On SC news about 2 weeks ago Arf said this (paraphrase) " I'm really pleased to say that we will get a Developer from a specific department on here once a month to explain to the community what they are working on and to answer any questions"..........that's a Developer Stream

Then last week it became clear that has now changed to a specific forum post from a Developer.......that's a Developer Post

Then a change again this week, but only a subtle one. Changing the word Developer to Development.......very subtle but clever.......this has now become a Development Post

Then the post drops, and, yes you guest it, the post is nothing of the sort. All it does is basically tell us what we already knew but in a different way.
The subtle word change works a treat because there's no Developer in sight, it's just good old Arf.
FDev slowly retreat to the shadows, having once again fooled the community
They didn’t fool anyone.

So this is what you meant with "you will be very pleased with what you'll see end of this month", Arthur, I'm not pleased at all - it's not enough, but now I know that I will buy a few other games in the steam sale, because EDO isn't worth it and might never be - there is not even a shred of hope for the future in this update - nothing.

You know, you even managed to fail my very low expectation for this update - it contains nothing what would give hope for this game - nothing at all.
Maybe Arthur had been given an indication it was ok to share some interesting information, got excited and mentioned as such to us plebs and had the rug pulled out from him by one of the higher ups at the last minute. I would not be in the least bit surprised.

Shared missions – allowing you to work together with other Commanders on the ground and share mission rewards
Does this include fixing passengers disappearing from ships when jumping?
If not - great news, I can't wait to team up properly.
If so - AMAZING news, this is going to be so much fun :D

Which part of "Dr Kay is hosting a Frontier Development livestream" do you find funny?
the part that frontier managed to schedule 2 "development streams" on the same day(they can't even manage their calendar, jesus) but fled from the one with a botched DLC release, if that's not funny then that's truly tragic.

Edit: Seems like a Pride month stream, which im all for it, at least it is for a great cause.
Still, frontier had a month to schedule and did on the same day as the promised dev stream, tragic.

Makes you wonder how they made a trailer and multiple picture and stuff without noticing.
It is literally mind boggling. Got a whole trailer and screenshots of something that doesn't fully exist in a fully priced product. We got sold a car with premium tires and we're out here riding on the rims like some suckers. A MONTH AND A HALF since release. How was this not caught in testing? They had a whole 3 weeks after alpha closed!
