Thanks Michael and Team

IMHO: Good stuff, keep up the good work, above all; keep your chins up! Don't take to heart all the detractors who fail to understand either the product you are actually aiming for, or even the way FD and David have funded the project, and it's on-going fettling! We original Elite fans thank you for giving us a 21st C. version of Elite to play with! (and more). Thanks again!

As for the autopilot idea, personally I wouldn't use it but I can't see a reason why you couldn't have a device that presses the disengage button for you at the end of a 60,000ls supercruise. But it should take up a valuable slot, perhaps a type 3 or 4 so that you have to really want to fit it.
Also, it should be a really low priority. The devs have much better things to do right now than making the game play itself.

I like the docking computer. I bought on for one of my ships just so I could experience the lilting strains of the Blue Danube as I entered the station. I used it a couple of times but after the ai messed up and my ship and all it's cargo was destroyed I haven't used one since. I don't mind if other people want to though.

I have a question to devs about pre-order bonuses
Where are those:
Exclusive pack of ship paint jobs - according to text we must receive more than 1 paint job
A digital concept art book
Plus loads more digital goodies to be announced over the coming weeks. - no goodies were announced

Exclusive pack of ship paint jobs - according to text we must receive more than 1 paint job

The mercenary paint job pack consists of several paint jobs in that it is one design that can be applied to a range of ship types.

Will you be fixing Group Play? If you can't see or chat to the people in your group then it's pretty much a pointless option.
See this reddit post from hchalkley, a Frontier developer:

I've found a workaround for that which seems to be reliable. You need to be in the same system in the private group, then you both drop out into open play and go to supercruise. You should then see each other on the radar. Once you've done that you go back to the private group and you should both be there. I've tried this a number of times in several different groups and it's worked for me every time so far. I don't know if it fixes the chat too but I suspect it will. It looks like the problem is that you have been put in different servers and going into open play somehow forces you into the same one.

No offense, but since you "original Eliters" are happy to have a modern version of the same game; would you be so kind to refund all the Eliters that were expecting a 21st century version of the game, with upgrades to mechanics also? :)

I used to play Elite in the days, and when I pitch in this project, I was not hoping to get an updated Elite for the modern computers, but something that can be considered what Elite was, when it was released. You can't really put the same 30 year old game with a new graphic on the market, and expect that it will not generate confusion among new and old users. I like it as game, but it leave me with the feeling of going out with a girl for a year, and end up only in second base, all the time ;)

It's not done. It's not done. It's not done. At no point have FD said that the game is 100% finished and that's it. These posts are what frustrate me so much. Asking for a refund because the game isn't what they expected.

I wonder what most of you would say if they simply didn't tick the version number to 1.0. Would there still be calls for refunds due to an "unfinished product"? So much anger because it's not what YOU want.

And when I play, I recognize the game as it is and also for its potential.

The game isn't done. It's still being developed on the grounds of a new frontier (no pun intended) which is kickstarter/early access. Games are now being released before they're 100% complete. We wouldn't have Elite Dangerous if it weren't for this new model of development in the first place, and I have no clue how those making this work of art refrain from absolutely blowing their tops at comments like this.

This fame is pretty freaking modern, man. The level of immersion is amazing and seamless behind the scenes thing like matchmaking that you don't even see. I was in Supercruise last might and interdicted someone and they slaughtered me. It wasn't until a couple hours ago I realized I has done the equivalent of clicked multiplayer on the main menu, hit the 1v1 playlist, and played a match...

Without a load screen or a menu click. GTA4 was praised for entering multiplayer via the cell phone but you still selected game modes and such. Elite is above that. Elite is seemless.

But hey you all want a modern game. Sorry about that. Quick, get a refund! The outrage!

Hmmmm, if you get so frustrated; take some tai-chi courses and avoid forums..that would be the best way probably.

I pointed out in multiple times (probably we never had a conversation on this forum), that ED was sold during KS campaign as "Elite with updated graphic, and new amazing features that will take advantage of modern technology". We know that there is an expansion or 2 coming in the future, that will add planetary landing and first person capabilities, to walk around the ship/planet/base. The game is not "finished"; but feature wise, the game was sold for 59 USD, and what you play now, is what you get.

Regarding the features that would take advantage of modern systems; we have a 400B system list; where most of the time nothing happens in there; we have mining that conceptually could've been implemented in Frontier; we have exploring that is another feature that call "barebone" would be really a stretch; and what else....piracy/bounty hunter, where you are actually roleplaying on your own, since all that you do is to shoot at ships. There is smuggling...which is limited to avoid police scan and sell on the black market. The only thing that was made a bit more in depth is trading, which is in the original Elite.

New features? Beside the aforementioned 400B systems, there is the interesting phase related to landing; there is supercruise, the star map is in 3d, multiplayer/MMO elements, which is done mostly to avoid to overload instances, so forget to see around a station a hundred human players. This is too little, for a game that wants to take the legacy of Elite, and move it in the 21st century. Not even the trailer done for the game is really showing what happens in the game (capital ship fight? blazing laser from tons of ships around you? play with your friends in the same instance, at the first attempt, with radio communication? I must've been playing the wrong game); so I believe that the concerns and never-ending stream of complains are more than justified. IF this was not called Elite, people would call it the next great thing after butter in a stick.

The refund joke goes to the ones that purchased the game, for the chance to play it offline, and then got angry when the bad news came in.

So, what are you taking about? Are you so happy about this game? Good, play it! But refrain from that attitude of "stop complaining, what are you talking about"; because the same freedom that allow you to express your (heavily based on mere feelings) opinions, is the same that allow other players to express their disappointment and frustration about something that they were dreaming about for 30 years. If you want to be heard, you may want to listen first. I hope you don't go blazing like that, in the face of people in real life :)

Is it possible to reduce the wear and tear rate when travelling far distances. I had 92% wear for travelling 45 LY which seems way too excessive especially when exploring.

Options for players currently without beta access to be able to purchase beta access will be available.

Now that just seems unnecessary. Let the enthusiasts test the game for you (free of charge as well). I'm completely fine with all these cosmetic purchases available but don't charge the beta testers when their actually doing the company a huge favor by testing and giving feedback.

Wow! Pay to be a beta tester?! I guess we need to pay to have the "privilege" of working for Frontier. =P

As you all know we’re also working on paid expansions for the game and these will have their own beta periods as well, we’ll again make details available of how this will work as we near their release.

So yeah, u guys payed 50 eur (in my world this is the average price of a game in it's final version, but maybe it's just in my little world) for a game currently in development and we can't wait to charge you more for the upcoming content ^^

Jokes aside, I completely understand why the fanbase of this game will defend the developers to the end (you guys love the game and the universe, I get that). Emotions aside, all we end up with is "a very promising game" currently with a significant lack of content and in the horizon we see payed expansions. I personally cannot agree with ppl that think paying full price for a game in development is reasonable, I think it's an insult to the consumer (but that's just me). I understand the point of using this system to fund a game and help it's development, but charging 50 eur is way too much, specially with payed expansions coming soon.

Best regards

So how do you feel about WoW? Pay for updates and a monthly subscription.

Now I have a had a think and read snippets by MB in other threads it seems that FDev are gearing up for a big fanfare release again when in my opinion things that should be rolled out immediately are being held back for this release despite they fact they are not part of that target.

The stated aim of 1.1 is the reworking of communications as a basis for the 1.2 Wings update. However into the 1.1 is the Day One decal (minor; a month late and will be two by the time 1.1 is released) and the ability to plot long distance routes quickly. The route plotter should be rolled out as 1.06 as it fixes a very annoying flaw in the galaxy map and is one of the largest complaints in the forums.

This is a question for those who bought the game for the retail price and then they realized in shock the game is still in development and now they want a refund.
Are you usually buy every game on it's release day without even learning more about the game? Eg you know read reviews, etc.
I do not think anyone said that the game is perfect and done. Even "we" Elite fanboys admit the game is not finished yet.
My point is: FD launched a game that still require a lot of work to be considered "more complete", but nobody forced you to buy it without learning more about it.

I don't have a problem with payed expansions, I just think they should be far, far away from now. People just payed full retail price for a game in development. We are waiting for the content we payed for, as you said, the updates coming soon should've been done before the release.

I don't want a refund, when I bought the game I was well aware that it got boring after a couple of days playing. I bought the game for the potential I see in it. Again, I don't mind the fact that it is in development, things take time to implement. I just don't think they should sell it for 50 eur (in this state) and announce payed expansions when we don't even have the features of a whole game.

Maybe you missed the part about it being for access to the beta. It's completely optional and will have no impact at all on the full game. You will get access to the new content as soon as it comes out of beta within a week or two. If you don't want to pay for access to the beta you will not be affected in any actual way at all.

I guess you didnt read my comment correctly. I know I will get acess to the content ^^. I was talking about the fact that beta testing a game is "actually work" and it's silly to have people pay in order to test the game for you. I really don't know how to put it in a more simple way.

Ok, so why did you buy it then? I do agree with you about the price vs content/feature, but something does not add up here. If you do not like their price policy or their attitude or whatever why did you "support" them with your money? Or the opposite: if you decided to buy the game (support) despite it's glaring issues why are you complaining now?
I hope you see my point: FD would have known they made a mistake if nobody is buying their released game for that price. But it seems people are still buying the game, no matter what.

and announce payed expansions when we don't even have the features of a whole game.
We do not know how many developers FD has exactly or what they are working on. It is possible one team works on the new features / expansion while others are still tweaking existing features or add fundamental parts. (I really hope that is the case though!)
