Development Update 2 - July

I have a feeling this is probably lower on their concern right now because of the bugs tbh. I have a feeling they'll work on this after they get all the stuff ironed out since it can affect powerplay.
The trouble is FD need to tell us what they intend to do so we can see if any giant 5C holes exist in the plans. I was not expecting Powerplay to be actually updated until after Odyssey had been taken off life support, but i'd cry inside if FD updated Powerplay and repeated the same mistakes, because I doubt they'll be looking at it for a third time.

Awesome development update, Arthur. I'm loving the changes and I'm looking forward to update 6.

Thanks to all the developers / people working hard on Elite!

Planet bodies, planetary surfaces, lighting look veryyy good !
And mission Feature Extensions is also great news.

Crossing fingers for the performance improvements 🚀

YES! I'm also hoping Squadron bookmarks will be editable - no need for our number prefix system going forward.

I'm liking the look of the new planet textures, well done.

I know you won't reply to this (not even sure why I'm asking) but can you tell us if any of this 'new content' is going to be released when/if you are able to nerf Odyssey enough to work on consoles, or is this new content going to be enjoyed by pc users first?

This is it ... this is how you do a Dev Updates. I see hope for the future

Four Player Multicrew
Four Commanders will be able to board ships together for the first time, with a number of ships set to be equipped with a fourth cockpit seat, including several Commander favourites.
but multi crew almost never works... can't use the FSD without players dropping or freezing... we've tried about 10 times and its always such a pain. its really disheartening. we can't go anywhere together, we can't land on planets together without knowing we'll never be able to leave together. can't jump systems together most of the time..

...
Future Updates

Increased Stored Module Capacity and Bookmark Numbers

These are long requested community features which will arrive in the near future.
...

As mentioned, this list is not exhaustive and we will be sharing more details on the content mentioned above and future, unannounced content in further monthly development updates and across our other channels.

Thank you as always for your continued feedback and support.

Nice list no question, hence thank you for the feedback.

I guess/hope increased module storage capacity and number of bookmarks will be deployed across the game including Horizons owners?
If so, do you see a chance to slip in one or the other improvement for console = Horizons only players as well?

For example
  • In addition to the planetary settlements not accessible to Horizons players for obvious reasons some stations (planetary outposts) have been added which from their nature are landable by ships; however we (console players) can't see them and hence have no access
--> do you see a way to share that content with us?
  • Old QoL requests, light years old such as improving the mechanic for picking fortification merits (make it the same buy/sell mechanic like in commodity markets)
  • ...
Bottom line - can you please add some stuff jollying us along... please!

Best regards and thx for considering!

2 other additions I would like to see:

1. Ability to delete or overwrite on foot weapons/suit mods without starting over from scratch just because you don't like a mod you applied.

2. "Downed but not out System" DBNO, when you die on a team you get downed and a team mate can revive you with a medpack.

Now /this/ is a good development update. I tried to summarise the things I was most excited about but I ended up listing pretty much everything you'd written about. Can't wait to check out the upgraded planetary surfaces and colours, and curious to see what FidelityFX Super Resolution brings in terms of quality and performance.

Thanks @Arthur Tolmie. Roll on Update 6!
