Hm, a few visual tweaks, a few fixes, some tiny QOL additions...
Nope, that's not alot.
Planet coloration? That's not the core issue and completely misses the mark.
Bland and all-round perlin noise heightmaps are still.... well, bland, round and boring perlin noise heightmaps.
And having the entire surface being generated so slow that flight >100m/sec creates the weirdest Terrain pop-ups ever seems far more of an issue.
How about actual Gameplay on distant Planets? Moving things down there? Mining down there? Building FOBs or permanent Bases there? Random events taking place like seismic or stellar events? Meteorite showers, asteroid impacts? Some surprises down there instead of 100% same-old routine, arcade content that's a mere Copy&Paste extension of existing minimal Horizons Gameplay?
No? Impossible? Thought so.
Zero innovation, zero ideas or imagination, just failsafe mechanics instead of Gameplay. The old ELITE problem, kept alive throughout Odyssey then.
4-Player Multicrew? People already aren't using MultiCrew as it is and a 4-Player version just means more people get Disconnect Error Messages on a regular basis (IF they can get together in the 1st place at all).
New Ships or especially new SRV types for different roles? Nothing.
Colonia Grind-e-neers? Great, more senseless grind to ignore and opt-out of, just elsewhere.
Noone thought that the ridiculous and bizarre, sadistic Spreadsheet Grind design that is Odyssey Engineers and fixed Suit/Weapon/Upgrade sets might need to go instead? Fully modular Suits and Weapons with the ability to swap & store Modules as it would make sense?
All Engineering Materials earnable AND tradeable through Mat Traders at non-sadistic rates? Integration as rewards into conventional (Station/Ship-based Board Missions)? Negotiable and Specific Engineer Mat Rewards with good Reputation on a conventional Mission board running vanilla space-borne Trade, Mining, Combat or Passenger Missions maybe?
No? Thought so.
So the invitation to grind(tm) shall remain the primary Odyssey content then.
Although inconceivable, it really appears that no single soul in the whole FDev team - not even after 2+ months and after being bombarded with very clear feedback from all sides nonstop - realizes the true shortcomings of Odyssey.
This is the most important and the most telling Detail of it all IMHO.
