Dino sizes won't be fixed

I'm reminded of Sims 4 cutting Toddlers from base game (it's not a 1-to-1 comparison, so bear with me). The devs had cut them in the first place because a number of core Toddler features were producing very difficult-to-resolve issues that couldn't be sorted out in time for launch (the difficulty is what's most relevant in my cmparison). After Launch, a vocal minority were very disappointed and felt that adding the Toddler life stage was a priority, and it's fair to say most players beyond that were at least a little disappointed. In The Sims 4's case, there was already a release schedule for dlc stretching out for a few years, over a year of which was already locked in. On top of that, the devs prioritized adding new things that had never been seen before in The Sims franchise rather than spend a dlc time slot on just fixing toddlers to add them to the game, so toddler fans had to wait quite a while. Toddlers were finally added in a free update over 2 years after launch.

For Jurrasic World Evolution, they had an even more brutal release schedule for base game than EA gives The Sims. As Bo said, they got a lot of resources from Universal so (speculation) it's possible Universal had a model of a juvenile Giga sitting around which Frontier then utilized. From the sound of things, unlike The Sims 4, Frontier does't have a set post-launch dlc schedule: that's good news in a way because it means they have more freedom to address popular requested adds sooner (/speculation). What Bo said sounds a lot like the early talk for why Sims didn't get Toddlers: they couldn't add them because it would cause too many issues. It's not so much that it can never be done, but that the work involved is more than you'd think and that resource hog would take away from work on other features they're also trying to get out for us. The Sims devs waited until they had a convergence of time plus new features to integrate with it before they finally buckled down and cranked out Toddlers. If you want dino resizes, and I do too, it might help to craft suggestions that include new features they could be adding along side the resize. My example would be adding Juvenile dinos: how exactly juveniles work still needs to be thought out, but simply declaring the existing Giga and other undersized dinos the juvenile state after such an update is one way they could do it.

TLDR: Dino resize is not entirely off the table, but if it happens it'll come after AI, animations, benches, trashcans, marine/avian reptiles, more dinos, '93 skin pack, new maps, bigger maps, guest revamp, even more dinos, and so on. Expect to wait at least a year for "adult" Giga etc. But if you want it, don't give up on it: figure out suggestions of how to make it happen alongside new features.

That kinda makes sense, except that there doesn't seem to be any major issues they're focused on instead. The big one, making any of the maps big enough, has been specifically said to be impossible, at least on the current maps. So if they are doing the "focused on bigger issues" thing, I'd be interested to know what those issues might be, if it's not fixing the number one game-killer lol

Although the movie is bad, they must respect the qualities of the fictional dinos that exist, I do not understand why you took that issue, which has nothing to do with what we discussed

Huh?
We were discussing dino sizes, then SonOfTheSun posted that image and I responded to it making fun of JP3... not sure where the confusion comes in lol

I wouldn't call it the number one game killer - there's still AI, decorations, day-night cycle and sleeping that I think are much pressing issues. I honestly just don't put them in the same paddock, so it isn't very noticeable (except for Giga, because it's so small that it can be noticed pretty much anywhere).

I'm definitely not saying there aren't other problems, but from everyone I've seen complaining it seems to be the big one. Not to mention the other problems that derive from it, eg. problems placing buildings due to terrain constraints, where if the map was a decent size you could just put the building somewhere else, crowded exhibits etc.
Put it this way, I'm happy to wait on the other issues being fixed in their own time, but until there's a fix for the maps I'm done with the game.

There was a minority in Sims who thought the lack of Toddlers was the "number one game killer" too. The Chibi Giga is disappointing, but far from a game killer, and there's a long list of other fixes and new features that are more highly requested (I won't bother to repeat them here because I listed most of them in my post you responded to).

This is very disappointing and immersion breaking. Oh well, R.I.P JWE for me. Hopefully another developer sees potential for the market of this type of game.

RIP? Are you judging the game because two dinosaurs do not have the original size and the Isla Nublar will not have the size increased? The Spinosaurus and the Giganotosaurus are my favorite large predators, I am very disappointed because they will not increase the size of them, but it is not reason to want to leave the game. I'm still hoping they'll figure it out. While Isla Nublar, they said they're going to see this case in future updates, there are many ways to tidy the size of the island. Patience.

The game needs alot of work, dino ai, true to scale dinos etc.. i already 5 star every island. The game was fun even though I dont believe it warrants the $60 price tag, but it was still good. Immersion is everything to me to keep me coming back to a game. Im sure Frontier would of had this fixed within the first month, but its clear Universal wont allow it.

Frontier must think we're idiots with that funny excuse.

If there are already TECHNICAL PROBLEMS with the Giganotosaurus every time you hunt a hadrosaur or fight with another medium carnivore because he grabs his prey in the air or passes it . Animations that are broken now and they do not want to fix the sizes why would it cause problems? Please, do not make us laugh.

The Spino size excuse (or lack thereof) is genuinely insulting.

The sad thing is that you know a team at Frontier sat around trying to invent an excuse for it and THIS is what they came up with. Like we wouldn't notice that the Spinosaurus in the movie was larger than the T-rex and that the Giga isn't canon and therefore not subject to size restrictions. As you say, that they thought we would buy it is frankly ridiculous.

Worst of all, he had blind faith in Frontier. After all this is a request of 99.9% of the players and really believed that they would fix it for this next update.

The size of Spino is something that we all protested since May !.

Animations broken of medium carnivores, dwarf maps of islands with terrain problems, incorrect sizes, Allosaurus overpowered, robotic guests, no price of park tickets ... Frontier is going to have to work a lot, but a lot if he wants us to be happy with the game.

Historically I haven't liked comparisons made between games, but this is kind of a NMS situation.

Go back and listen to things the dev team spoke about; they were either unaware of how we would react, or oversold it. Island size is probably the best example.

I don't know why people expected it to be fixed, I decided for sure they wouldn't do that, it was intended because Universal. Spino even making it in was a bit of a surprise to me, kind of antagonistic to the idea of JW's focus of making Rex the icon again (cause of his role in JP3 obviously)

and sure enough, the measured response is pretty obvious. It's longer than the OP originally posted here and starts with them talking about how they worked with UNIVERSAL to strive for the most authentic Jurassic Park dinosaurs (something like that).

well yeah no kidding! we already know there are things because of the licensing issues like jeeps cannot be destroyed, there cannot be lethal ammo...Universal is not going to want the Rex overshadowed.

The Universal argument makes no sense regarding the Giga and other wrongly sized Dinosaurs. It never appeared in the canon yet they made so small. They couldve atleast made it as big as the Spino but its even smaller than that. Makes no sense to include the Giganotosaurus if you make him almost as small as the medium carnivores.

Seems to me there might be a couple of things going on? Universal dictating Jurassic World, reflects T-Rex being the alpha predator but presumably Spinosaurus would have been a glaring ommission given JP3, also Universal property.

Now they're in game I think it is realistic (and not insulting) to see genuine technical problems to change the models .. though you could argue it might be possible to change the species' names, to smaller spinosaurid / tyrranosaur genus to reflect the paleontology.

That though, doesn't get Frontier around the licensing issue. So seems like they're caught between a bit of a 65myo rock and a 3.0 hard toothed place. Personally I'm not massively bothered though because Velociraptor is what, twice as big as should be? That's not consistent either but who's complaining about that?
