Discord Channel that Actually Works?

I'm kind of new to this and have never before played this game with anyone else so have been looking forward to getting involved with this adventure, but so far nothing much seems to be happening for me. Am I doing something wrong?

I joined the fleet about a week ago and flew straight out to Omega Sector to join the crew, however when I arrived I couldn't really see anything happening, so I went back to Pallaeni, scanned the beacon, then made my way back to the Omega Sector again (checking out some of the suggested way points on the way back)... but still nothing.

All the while I have been logged into Discord and believe I have joined the "FleetComm HQ" chat but I never hear anyone say anything, and other than a message about there only being 250 spots left in some fleet (which unfortunately I lost when I refreshed) no one has really typed anything either.

I don't really know what I was expecting but, you know, I was expecting something... Is there a different channel or something I can join in order to see or at least hear what other people are doing? For a community some 10,000 strong I'm certainly not seeing much happen

Without knowing when and what channels you were in, I can't exactly give you many suggestions. I know that voice channels by and large require push to talk to be configured and a lot of people aren't paying attention to that requirement.

"about a week ago" the discord access was locked, as well as applications to the PG. Registration to the official fleet roster was stopped on the 18th.
If you applied to the Fleetcomm discord after that, you're restricted to the #accessrequests channel, where nothing really is happening.

The discord and PG access will be reopened in he future - but I can't tell you when, that decision is up the corresponding admins. For alternative PGs, the best recommendations are Mobius and setting up your own PG with other friendly CMDRs.

I'm in the same boat but as far as i know its closed at the moment as there's a massive backlog of requests to clear https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...e-(pc)-Group?p=7356417&viewfull=1#post7356417 On there he said it'll open again soon.

yes, same problem here. signed in in feb. 2018, about a year ago. but in nov. my imac (bootcamp) crashed again (GPU broken) and i sent it in and got a new machine. was not able to safe my data on windows. i got the unit early this month and until all was running again i was not able to access to the PG. also i lost my google-link for the roster.
yesterday i tried it out in Mobius PG and all i saw was: no one at all.
thousands of pilots out there and i see no one!
and am unable to access the official group.
worst case in my opinion...
any ideas?

Yes, the discord channel says "You do not have permission to send messages in this channel." so I can only assume I attempted to join after it was closed.

As it is I signed up for the voyage on either the 14th or 15th of Jan but so far as I can tell I haven't received any conformation. Is there a way I can check?

Yup, this is exactly what I would like to do. How do I find "other friendly CMDRs" to set up a PG (Private Group?)? That's exactly what I'm trying to workout with this post

You didn't save your Discord access credentials somewhere else? I mean, I'm accessing Discord with the same access credentials on IIRC 5 machines (3 discord apps, two on browser).

For the roster, you can check on http://bit.ly/dw2roster - careful, that's a link to a 13,000 line google docs spreadsheet. It has been reported to crash the occasional machine. For the PG, you would see it in the game as one of your private groups if your application has been fully processed.

If you have questions about DW2 there are a lot of people from the expedition there. Or you can just follow along here on the forums.

I don't know if I'm completely stupid or what, but I just can't seem to work any of this stuff out???

I tried to open that file on a reasonably powerful desktop PC but after 24 hours it still just said "loading...", now it saying I don't even have permission to attempt to open it

As it is I thought I saved the link from my application (after it gave very specific instructions to do so) but all I get from the link I saved is "The form DW2 Fleet Roster Sign Up is no longer accepting responses.
Try contacting the owner of the form if you think that this is a mistake." Did I somehow mess that up too?

It's not like I haven't been trying. I've actually Googled a fair bit and been combing the forums but it seems everyone else has it worked out. Given how many people are on this adventure I'd figure there must be dozens and dozens of people caught as I am but strangely I don't seem to be coming across anyone else having trouble. What am I missing?

Buddy, it sounds like your loosing heart and about to give up......

I'm not in charge of the discord servers or the PG's in-game, but i can give you a bit of advice for the lack of activity in-game and where we are with the expedition based on my experience in-game and on these forums;

Firstly, this is only my opinion of what i think is happening at the moment. At the moment we are finishing off the CG of delivering ore to the station. this has been going on for a week now and at the start we all blew through the required amounts and FDev upped the target. when i logged in last night the latest target was almost met. To that end i do think that most of the commanders are done with mining and there are only a dedicated few trying to finish it off, hense lack of activity and seeing others flying around.

If your not mining then the only other thing that i hear people doing is exploring the local area, going out a few thousand LY and tagging the unexplored areas. There are a few commanders that come on here asking why there are nobody at the meet-up point and others, like you, that are asking why they can't see anyone else out here from the 13k members signed up. I think, and like i said at the start that this is only my opinion, people have done all their mining or exploring the local area and have logged out. they will be back this weekend ready to move on to WP3 on 27 Jan at 1900.

you also have to remember that we are not playing on dedicated servers like other MMO's. when you log in you are put into an instance with anything up to 20ish players, so out of the 13k signed you will only ever see no more than 20ish commanders at any one time. Of course the people will change all the time.

If you came to WP2 with the start group you would of bumped into lots of commanders in the POI's and found lots if interactions/wings/new friends to fly with. I do believe this will happen again on Sunday when the fleet move off to WP3 and the next list of POI's are released.

My final advice is, dont give up, be patient about the GP and Discord. they will get to it and you will get in. It wont be long before they sort the backlog and everyone will be able to interact. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES PLAY IN OPEN IF YOU DONT WANT TO DO PVP. there are gankers prowling open waiting for us to log in then they will pounce and there will be nothing you can do about it as open is an area allowed for PVP.

So hope this helps with your issue in-game....i can't help with the Discord/PG parts and apologise if i have given you a big egg and tried to teach you how to suck it.

I'm doing maintenance on the sheets so they are currently inaccessible, they should be back up tonight or tomorrow.

The signup form has stopped accepting registrations and amendments last Friday, and the currently open Latecomers roster does not allow response editing.

Thanks guys. And no, I'm not about to give up, I'm just a little perplexed as to what I'm meant to be doing???

As it is I have only been playing in open as I thought that was how I would get to do stuff but even so I'm still not seeing or hearing anyone. Even getting interdicted and blown up would at least be a little bit fun

. As I say, I'm not exactly sure of what to expect but I really haven't seen anything much as of yet. Guess I'll try back again on the 27-28th and see what I can find

As it is I'm not seeing much action in this place yet but I'll sit here in the "elite" channel for a bit and see if anyone else comes in. Otherwise I'll check back in tomorrow (it's 1:30am here in Australia and high time I went to bed

I was going to suggest we can wing up over the weekend and do a bit of exploring whilst waiting for the next launch, but your over the other side of this disc we are living on (ouch, watch all the Flat World conspiritors come out), but if you want to send me a friend request in-game....oh wait only if your on PC, you havent mentioned what platform your on. Anyway...if your on PC then my in-game name is the same as on here.

By the way, I've now read in a few placed to never play in Open on this adventure. What is the reason for that?

As it is I've actually only played in open thus far as I've kind of been hoping to bump into other people. Given I'm in a star port right now and aren't carrying anything valuable is there any reason not to play in Open at the moment? I can appreciate that as one ventures out to the more remote reaches were it's a significant distance to the nearest port one would be more afraid if getting picked off but for now is there any reason not to, or should I really only be playing in solo mode given I'm not as of yet part of a wing? Seems like it would be an even more solitary experience.
