Discovery Scanner [Weekly Update] - 29/03/2022

Please leave all FC optional space open by default but with no staff (like you did on IA service at engineer ground bases) or locked by the UI (but ship management should be free to owner).
FC owners has full access to property they purchased, they dont like useless locked rooms to remind them purchasing something.
That would just look weird though. You don't have that service so it should be sealed off- remember your FC 'purchase' is very franchise like rather than outright ship ownership itself.

The other is that the default 'not bought / unlocked' state is something other than a door, maybe a storage room- but something dressed differently.

I agree. Especially since the unused module are used for storage capacity, so there is something there (storage).

However, I would like the bar to be a free feature, but the bartender to be paid. or have an observation bay instead, something.

This I can sort of agree too- however part of me wants some sort of option which has a 'dodgy services' package- so you get secure storage, black market, dodgy people etc.

Saying that I'd also split the bar service up- so you have a proper legit shopfront (like mat traders) which is totally separate and then have the barkeeper (free) and then with the 'dodgy services plc' on board you get black market contacts in the bar / walking about (but not the barman).

This then frees the barman to be a barman and not a kingpin of crime.

I was thinking dev could just leave these places open with a blank room, later can fit with ARX purchased, non upkeep but purely deco space for a better funding.
The one I suggested here (removing staff) is the least coding solution 🤷‍♂️

I'd prefer a blank room thats dressed differently. Having an unmanned service might confuse the people who can't read whats available and looks sloppy (even if its the bare minimum).

Those signs pointing at locked shops on the FC make me so sad: I hope that, with the introduction of FC decorations, they include tumbleweed that can be released in the concourse.
I would love that!

If they do that the next thing that will happen is people here demanding that they are allowed to use their bio sampler on the tumble weeds and other plants on board.

Yeah, so I found one, but I couldn't reset it. Logoffski, supercruise, even leaving ED entirely, play something else and back an hour later then supercruising didn't work.

Meanwhile, larceny can be reset by simple logoffski.

Still, I didn't enjoy the overall experience of looking for a needle in a haystack, while hoping RNGesus would deem me worthy of the lewt. So I'll wait for the eventual Engineering revamp^^
IDK, I was lucky enough to have another player trade me most of the SDP's for the unlock, so I only needed to farm three of them that I got in a single session once I found the right POI. I just set my ship down a couple hundred meters away. Logging out to the menu and back in again would refresh the contents of the dataport (I didn't even look at the containers), took me about 20 relogs to find three SDP's. I always ran back to the ship to recharge and rearm between relogs, as mobs spawned more often than not.
Because I only did it on one occasion, I don't know if my rate was good luck or typical.

Bartender Service sell pricing cap

It would be VERY nice if ALL the FC services could have their price caps SUBSTANTIALLY increased. It's basically impossible to make a meaningful profit selling modules, ships, or most commodities. I'd LOVE to set up my Carrier to sell mining equipment for this CG, but it would be stupid to do so, since my profit margins wouldn't even recoup the jumping expenses.

Seeing that the CMs are not able to answer questions on streams I am wondering where would be appropriate to ask said questions about the future development and suggestions from the community? Also what about them other "rebalancing" of ship engineering that was "looked into"?

It means that we will see more game updates over the coming months. We will continue to work through Issue Tracker, fix bugs and improve performance, but we will also be able to explore and add additional features, content and improvements into the game.

We will continue to give open monthly development updates where we discuss WIP content, challenges, the issue tracker and more. We know that the previous levels of detail for the roadmap and developer update have not met expectations, but we are grateful for your patience while we shift and adjust plans, in the face of such clear feedback.
That was said 8 months ago and is not valid for second part for more as 4 months now ... dunno what to say more about this subject.

Rear window on the bridge!
Why do we only have wind(?)shield and moonroof?
Nautilus captains also want to see their landing pads..

I have 3 FCs (on 3 accounts) and am bothered not in the least by those locked rooms.

Although I'll temper the comment by admitting I went to the bridge only a couple of times, to look around and then witness a jump. I wouldn't be walking around my dollhouse much more in the future, so won't miss what I don't need. At least as inspiring as pointless ship interiors, I guess.

  • tritium fuel management from inside the carrier
  • fc route plotting
This would be great.
We already have Tritium Depot crew and a Bridge crew, why can't they do their job.....................Oh wait.......I just went 'Undercover Boss'..............

Flowers/Decorations in a FC would be a nice to have feature, so you could theme you FC, but not very important.
