BGS changed to have more influence over commodity prices so that contributes to the new money making meta. Black Market was looked at too. There is the new Ice mining. There are new upgrades from engineers, such as being able to increase your jump distance. These all contribute to a new meta for combat, trading, mining and in no small part - money making.

Your denying it does not alter the fact that there is a new meta.

There is no new meta in the game mechanics for earning money. Bounty Hunting, Trading, Mining, Pirating, Exploring and Missioning are the six money making activities. And Bounty Hunting got curtailed. None of what you said compensates for that. People who want to Bounty Hunt in a RES probably don't care about any of what you listed.

If you want to reply with another fabricated misrepresentation of what I've typed, don't expect a response.

My largest ship is a Python which has basically been converted to a glorified hauler, I'd like to be able to run from a fight in that, I could before the update, now don't stand a chance when an OP AI interdicts me, the last interdiction, I wouldn't even have had time to turn and fight, my shields were gone moments after I'd dropped into normal space.

Think back on what you just said...
my shields were gone moments after I'd dropped into normal space.

How is you python geared? You haul, what countermeasures do you have setup to increase you survival time in case of deadly interdiction encounters? Have you though about submitting, then (as you have a couple of seconds and full control over your interceptor) just boosting away and high-waking, leaving him/her/it in the dust?

Many ways to avoid engagements, and surviving them. However the old (pre 2.1) tactics of ignoring or facerolling NPCs is gone and hopefully will never come back.

I feel the only answer to solve this problem and to make everyone happy is for Frontier to reverse the AI in 1.6 back to prepatch. Then everyone has a choice. I do think the chaps in 2.0 are getting cheated out of credits for kills. If the risk is this much higher the payout should be too.

I've not had a chance to play, and probably won't until next week.

Looking through he Threads I'm seeing a lot of talk about 'Engineered NPCs' and I'm getting the impression that, as per Beta, the number of NPCs is out of whack.

I remember hearing and reading about how ship mods were a rarity, but going by what I've read today they're ten-a-penny.

If this is the case then someone has dropped the ball. I've not much interest in CMDRs who Robigo-ed to a big boat then farmed their way to Elite; now they're going to reap the Rebuy whilrwind until they learn to fight.

I'm more aware of how this may effect CMDRs who simply play the game, a little trading, a little mining a few missions etc. If NPCs are blanket Engineered then, quite frankly, between the mods and the new A.I. this is going to turn into a miserable and frustrating game.

I've been on the receiving end of this in Beta, in a non-combat ship, and it wasn't fun.

If this is the case then, to a large extent the CMDR who simply plays the game is effectively going to have to take part in the arms race just to retain some degree of parity with the NPCs...and what this would mean for non-Horizons players I have no idea.

I'll refrain from waving pom-poms for the Devs on this issue for the moment. I'm hearing a lot of negative feedback on this and I'm not going to dismiss it as 'salt' just because I have what I want.

As a non horizons player, I'm wondering how an NPC modded ship of high rank is going to be. I'm up for the challenge in my A rated Viper though it sounds as if I'm going to be outgunned.

Yes, very true. I remember those early days when the learning curve was steep enough in 1.5/2.0 where I had my iPad beside me with the key settings/Game manual/Thrudds/eddb.io/YouTube tutorials.

One stat I would like to see is how many 'Harmless' players with little or no experience were involved in the Beta and provided feedback. I am guessing very few if any.

No doubt there will be one or two...law of averages mean that experienced players will play from scratch just to prove something "can" be done. Ignoring the fact that they actually know what they doing whereas a new player won't which means that such a test is pointless and will give a very biased and inaccurate result.

Far as I'm concerned, this update sucked the fun out of the game...combat has been nerfed hard for me and with the grind wall near vertical now, I do have to wonder what I'm supposed to do now. Even teaming up with experienced players won't see me actually learning anything...I would just be there to say things like "wow yer brilliant at this" and maybe earn a few creds without actually enjoying it. It really is no fun just leeching from higher experienced players...wheres the fun in that? Can't fight solo and don't have a big fancy ship like the other trolls in here have...I just want some action but where do I find action which is on a par with my skill and gear level? I can't even make one bloody jump before I'm interdicted and killed without reason...can't run before they just kill me so please...someone please tell me where I'm supposed to find some fun? This is a game is it not? I thought games were supposed to be fun...or did I miss something?

Anyway...thx to the few who seemed to want to genuinely help but I'm outta here...I need to chill out from the frustration of trying to play and ending up nearly bankrupt so I'm off to walk the dogs. Not sure I'll play again...so good luck all and stay safe ^^

So, give us back the braindead AI, thats stuck in forward throttle, that resorts to spinning in circles, oh and they don't use tactics, they just run at you and fire at you so you can just face tank them into farm status.

You'll be outgunned by about 300% if the high rank NPCs have access to Grade 5 mods. If they have Thermal weapons, just run.

It is hard to say if the problem is the AI or that AI ships seem to operate under a different reality than player's ships.

Either way if it doesn't change I don't think any new players will join the game. If you haven't already made your billions you're never going to stand a chance against the AI.

Yeah, uhu, okay. See that bit in the first post that our dear Aunty made where he said "Post here to discuss please" you were supposed to discuss the topic, not each other and certainly not post rude things about other peoples ideas. Let us take a moment to think about the word "Nice". Let's discuss the topic in a nice way and not start discussing each other.

TL;DR - Be nice, discuss the topic

Toodle pip!

Previously there has been no risk from the ai and people got used to face rolling and making credits far too easily. There is no reason to adjust bounties, many mission payouts have already been increased.

just now. interdicted by a d'back scout.

i'm in a volture pure combat...

before that i could have the hostile ship in front of me i had just 2 circle of shield down... there wasn't possibility to turn and see it....

and after gone back of him was impossible... always front...

5 minutes of fight... 200 cr bounty :|

i appreciated the major difficulty. but it's too hight

Your side of the argument isn't fair either. New players may not know what to do, but they aren't stupid either. They will figure things out if they have patience for it.
