After being quite alarmed yesterday I today realize that it's not much harder now - if you don't run around and call for trouble.

Still waiting for newbies' statements on that, though. Most of them don't populate this forum, they just leave in silence when frustrated.

They turn towards you and shoot , all you need to do is boost back behind them.

Sometimes they can be hard but they are no way near as hard as the forums say they are.
they stuck an idea in there head and ran with it.
 
It seemed to work well in Need For Speed if I remember (it's been some years from I've played it, but I do recall the speed cops chasing me and me running away... or is that not "any other game"???).

It sounds like you're struggling to name games where it occurs, do you think that's because in most games you have to do something about your pursuers? Take GTA V as an example, is the best method to keep driving away or will you find more luck in attempting to break their LOS and change vehicle, hide out somewhere, drive them somewhere difficult so that they can't follow or shoot them out?

No it's not much harder at all if you use your brain.
The farmers will leave and the players that enjoy a decent challenge will continue playing.
 
I'm gonna be so dissapointed if Frontier cave into this.. I suspect they will, coz hey, why get better or improve when you can whine on the forums and seek big Daddy Brabens help. AI is fine, increased challenge is very welcome in my view. Time to git gud... you can also find some wingmen to play the game with. It is afterall a multiplayer game ;)

Suggestion: everybody using the term "Git Gud" on the forum should encounter nothing but Elite Anacondas in the game for a week!
 
I think this boils down to people thinking they have the skill of Buck Rogers while in fact they have the skill of uncle rogers. The LOW end NPCs are stupid, anyone can kill them. Why do people keep dragging out 'oh the new players are getting destroyed?' No they are not the new players run into low rank NPC which are easy. Its all the grinders that got themselves big ships thinking they can fly them that are complaining. Honestly its not that hard, now instead of endlessly hanging around Rez farming potatoes, try something else, like I dunno getting some missions to kill someone for 5-900k plus the bounty for 10-20 minutes worth of work. I have made tons of money since 2.1 went live doing just that, missions + bounties = rich person.

Git gud, does that mean I get tons of elite anacondos with huge bounties on them? that would be awesome, easy money.
 
I was just telling my wife how much I liked this community, and then this happens. Most of y'all are bickering like little children over a new toy. Have some common decency as human beings, see that people have points, they feel the way they do for a reason. It is not because they are an elitist, or a farmer. This is a game, and meant to be enjoyed a variety of ways. Find the common answer and quit assuming that yours in the only answer.

It is a game. A game. Respect each other.

Nope. I only came to the forum to see what the deal was with the ridiculous difficulty jack.
The deal is they fixed the bugs in the AI code. there is nothing more to it.
The AI was allways going to be like this , in fact during beta in 2014 was like this just with less special features.

We are going to see NPCs use FA/OFF

Just boost around doge fire and only pick fights you can win...

Doom was hard , elite 1 was hard , Xwing was hard all of them classics. 2.0 AI was broken , borefest that just kept crashing against astroids...
 
Keep in the thrusters blue zone, and use vertical thrusters in the opposite direction of where you're pitching to to help keep the nose pointing the target.
This essentially performs a skid-turn. It's fine so long as you have significant speed and acceleration advantages over your opponent. Try it on a clipper and you'll regret it.

That's flat-out untrue.

It's not simply resolving bugs in AI code. The spawns are different, the loadouts are more powerful and the chances of escaping a dangerous encounter vastly reduced, one way or another.

im competent rank mainly by fighting the npcs that interdict me. you made one major error in assuming that peoples combat ranks wont rise over time by killing low end npcs. and how do you explain me getting inerdicted by a mastel level who had my shields gone and my hull to 74% and my powerplant to 58% in 30 seconds from opening fire - with me flying my asp explorer around like a maniac trying to be hard to hit? and only getting saved by 4-5 federal authority ships jumping in? no, people are going to rank up to where they cant handle npcs over time. its unavoidable unless they let people cap their combat level from rising above the level they can handle, that they will wind up being destroyed over and over.
