Hayo Zookeepers,

Time for another discussion topic! Last month was really useful for me in particular, and I’m excited to use all of your tips when I get stuck back into Planet Zoo. Plus, I’m sure there are lots of others here who will find them useful too!

Before we get started, as always, remember that this is a place for us to all enjoy chatting as a community. Please do keep in mind that these threads have set topics and refrain from discussions outside of that or they will be removed by the moderators – but don’t fret! We’ll still be keeping an eye on the rest of the forums for your feedback, suggestions, creations, and more!

So, without further ado:

What is your favourite biome to create for, and why?

Temperate with Grassland not too far behind it. I guess I like the non-extreme biomes since Tropical is my next one, ha.

Though, my consistently most successful franchise zoo - that's actually stayed profitable and is huge - desert biome. The only franchise I have in that biome too. Maybe I should try it more often.

I love Tropical! I enjoy warm climates in real life and I also love them in games. Give me the endless summer. 🌴☀️ Alot of my favourite animals are from the tropics so there is that too.

Second favourite is temperate just because I am from Europe so its a setting I am most familiar with. It also pushes me to build more realisticaly because I have to build indoor shelters for most enclosures.

Always played on temperate, I just felt most comortable making a zoo in a region I'm in. I also like the terrain paints the most, but that might just be because I grew used to them haha. I have been a little jealous of tropical dirt at times.. Also savannah grass would be great to mimic a hot dry summer.

I really love tagia biomes, the foliage is really delightful to work with, I like the rock skins, and larger amount of snow is a lot of fun.

Temperate would be a close second though, followed by desert (I just end up playing Rock Placement Sim w/ some succulents).

I have a hard time with grassland, just being that I have a harder time with contrast... and tundra always makes me want to make a completely indoor zoo that is then sad because of the grass being all dead.

Definately temperate. It's the biome I'm living in and so that's where the zoos are I visited. It's much easier to identify with it and get inspiration that way. Plus, I really struggle with heat in real life, so that's mostly not an option.

I just wish we could change the backdrop fpr our zoos, as it gets a bit boring having the same back drop again and again with my 10th started temperate zoo or something like that. :D

I tried african grassland once, but could not stick with it.

I know I'm supposed to say temperate, because I honestly have build temperate zoos for the biggest part of my zoo building career... But so far the two zoos I've worked on the most are in tropical settings 😅

I'd say Tropical and Temperate really. I do want to build in the red desert map some day, but the lack of green grass is holding me back a bit.

I'll open and say, on a day like this, when everyone is waiting for an update, this is not the best thing to post in my opinion. It's the equivalent of wanting to go out with a date, and then having your date call you only to ask for help with homework.

Regarding biomes, my favorite biome (mediterranean scrub) is not explicitly in the game, so I love trying to recreate it by mixing ground textures and plants from tropical/temperate/grassland.

From the biomes actually in the game, my favorite is definitely the tropical. Good tempratures in any weather, green and lush, and in my opinion the most interesting species. I especially like creating tropical domes on a temperate map, and add a lot of mist effects and waterway features.

Temperate! I love city zoos, and that biome is the one which Im most used to see in real life zoos. But I love to use desert as well. Wish there were more terrain paints and terrain tools in general.

My favorite biomes are temperate forests and grasslands and the African savanna.
The families of animals that I like the most are antelope, deer, bovidae and equines and many of them are found in these regions.
My favorite biome on the zoo planet is the temperate one because it has the seemingly most accessible environment in which to build a zoo.
In the rest of the biomes of planet zoo, I try to recreate something more like a safari or a nature reserve since its background landscapes seem very wild and far away.

Almost all the zoos I have built so far have been in the temperate biome and located in Europe, so that's my go-to biome choice.

I do love the aesthetic of the tropical biome, though. The terrain paint brushes are some of my favorites in that biome, which is why I would love to have the option to use certain terrain brushes in different biome maps.

I actually haven't used the other biomes yet aside from pre-made scenarios. The desert biome is one that I'll definitely try some day.
