Brief video of Beagle Point week, the races today and tomorrow, and my plans after for returning home

I forgot to thank you specifically, without your videos I would never have found out about DW. So thank you, you captured the feeling perfectly and that drove me to catch up with everyone. I look forward to future videos

Just a quick good-bye to the old thread before the lock :)

I want to thank all of you guys, all cmdrs out there, and fdev, for taking so much care of their users, supporting them and partecipating with them... This make big difference for us. But the bigger thanks go to the organizers, for the planning, the enthusiasm, the fleetcomms, the videos, the newsletter and all the "dirty" work behind this amazing adventure. You changed a game and made it simply better.
Best luck to all for returning home, I will stay in Kamzel till the bubble, trying to cross a bit east of Svenno crossing thru "route 33".

Fly safe cmdrs o7

Personally I'm glad to see the back of you lot.

I dunno - all this idiocy: flying straight at SRVs and boosting just over their heads, swearing on live feeds (that's just shameful that is), driving round a world getting shot at and swearing on live feeds (that's just shameful that is), dropping your SRV off cliff you've parked on (childish, so very childish), playing ridiculous games of tag in the same, and looking for bloody rocks to help some window licking antipodean lunatic who can't get a proper ship.... shakes head in despair....

Time to get back to some proper exploring with empty systems and rocks, and more rocks and possibly rocks. Rocks, that's what exploring is about. Rocks. And Gas. Rings.

muttermuttermutter......

Just want to say a big thank you to the organisers of Distant Worlds, FDEV and every last one of the travellers whether they made it or not, in particular every CMDr that either asked for or accepted my friendship, you made it an awesome experience for a terminally shy bloke[heart] . DWE has set the standard for every other community event there will ever be in the E: D galaxy and my God the bar was set high. This is truly user led emergent gameplay at its finest and the next time I see "Mile wide, Inch deep" written in a post, I will reach through the screen and punch them in the mouth!

And a thank you from me - to the Organizers and Pilots of DW. It's been awesome, and I'm looking forward to seeing green tabs all over the Galaxy Map in the years to come. Fly far and safe all. o7

Due to work commitments, my game PC blowing up, building a VR-capable replacement and losing a bit of motivation while waiting for my Vive pre-order (which I've still not heard anything about from HTC by the way), I'm still a few way points away from Beagle Point. I'm going to have to spend some time getting more jump boosts too, as there was no damn way I was travelling without being fully armed. Sort of glad I decided on the latter, by the way, as I've been jumped twice by players who really weren't expecting a fully A-specced combat ready ship out here :D. I'm doing the rest on Solo.

[...] there was no damn way I was travelling without being fully armed. [...]

That reminds me something... Are my b3 plasmas the farthest ever plasma cannons in the history of humanity? :D (I think they're not, must be some cmdr much more insane than me, before...)

Whenever someone asks about Distant Worlds, your videos sums it up perfectly. Thanks for the memories!

Thank you cmdr shab00ka for all your great videos. Good news that you plan on makeing a small video series about your journey home, I look forward
to see them. Have a save journey home! o7

ShabOOka Just like to Thank You for your DW videos. They have been really enjoyable & a safe journy home Cmdr.

Your kind words are the reason I can stay up entirely too late and get up way too early to make these videos.
So thank you for supporting my obsession :)

Erimus and Dr Kaii,
all the videomakers
all the people involved with organising this trip,
all the people at the waypoints coming up with all kinds of shenanigans,
everyone who took part in this great Distant Worlds Expedition....

... THANK YOU! You have made this one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, gaming experience in the history of ... history! Cheers to everyone and see you out there in the black!

o7

I wasn't there, but I've been watching and I can only salute all of you who made it - and those of you who will make it in the fullness of time.

Thread finally closed. We made a singularity thread! First in the explorer's forum. Add that to our accolades :) This thread reached critical mass just in time for the end of the main phase of the expedition. I closed it after midnight of 9th April, the end of (the first) Beagle Point week. It has been an absolute blast, and I won't go over all my mushy words of emotion and pride, you can see those in the official departure from BP video (keep an eye on my channel). I will say though that this thread will always be a monument, 6 months old, to DWE, the first ever mission of its kind.

Thanks all for taking part, and keep an eye on the FGE Wing, who arrive with their entourage May 31st, at BP.

I will leave you with some final words from Erimus:

I just want to say thanks for all the messages folks have sent from the very beginning of this adventure months ago, right up to the present. Almost every day someone has PM'd me or emailed me saying how much fun Distant Worlds is bringing them, and how many friends they've made along the way. That means a lot.

I'm not very good at sentimental stuff, so I'll leave it to Dr Kaii to add his own words to that - he's far better at it than me, and as Zulu Romeo mentioned, Kaii has been the heart and soul of this event.. his enthusiasm and sheer joy at how much fun other players are having has been a pleasure to witness all along the way. And he deserves a medal the size of the rings of Podar for the sheer amount of work he's put in.

The FleetComm admins have been a godsend too - they've helped create a real thriving community of explorers on there, something that will hopefully live on long after Distant Worlds. So much more potential for more DW kind of events can be born in there thanks to the dedication and continuous work that NeoTron, Kancro, and grnbrg have put in. Unsung heroes, all. I can't thank you guys enough o7.

Distant Worlds has been blessed with some fantastic content creators, and there's now a wealth of fantastic videos, blogs, and posts, and gigabytes of photos, not to mention the sheer dedication the prospectors brought to the venture. These are things that all of us will be able to look back on and continue to enjoy in years to come.

And to the various groups that have sprang up from the ranks of the DW fleet, the Candy Crew and Rock Rats - both bringing high-octane fun to those basecamp meetups, and really getting the best out of the social aspect Kaii and myself had envisioned back when this event was just an idea. Thanks guys o7.

And to the the Distant Worlds fleet - thanks for coming along! As I mentioned elsewhere, Kaii and myself may have got the ball rolling, but you guys ran with it and made Distant Worlds what it will be remembered for :)

Too tired to write anymore for now so I'll save the rest for the final Distant Worlds newsletter ;)

Erimus Kamzel, Beagle Point, signing off o7...
