Im loving this idea. Ive never been to Sag A* yet, but it would be great to get there with a company of explorers!

You might be able to count me and the "Ship With No Name MKII" in for the expedition :) Ill have to wait and see though

Cmdr name: Flash_Baggins
Ship: Asp Explorer 32ly jump range (Can probably get higher by ditching a few unneeded things)
Ship Name:"Ship With No Name MKII"
Time Zone: GMT

Waypoint #10 : Sagittarius A* via The Amethyst Cloud
Rendezvous Date & Time : TBD
Next stop is the visually stunning Myriesly "Amethyst Cloud" Stellar Remnant before a visit to Sagittarius A*.
Approx. Distance Traveled : 27,000 LYs

Waypoint #11 : The Celestial Rainbow via The Phipoea Nebula (system TBD)
Rendezvous Date & Time : TBD
Leaving the galactic centre we head across the core regions to The Phipoea Nebula, then onto the The Celestial Rainbow.
Approx. Distance Traveled : 32,000 LYs

I just realised that I am atm between #10 and #11 on my way further to the north after visiting the roof of the galaxy.

I have found this Giant Ammonia World with rings and 8 moons, 7 of them airless and one of them very close to the rings. It is located about 1,800 LYs from The Phipoea Nebula.
Maybe this could be worth an excursion between #10 and #11?

BTW: With pleasure I would participate in this journey, but I do not know if I would have the time to do this. Maybe I sign in later this year.

Nice find. Ammonia systems will be worth checking out.

If you can think of an appropriate name for that point of interest, I'll add it to mapping thread and list it as a possible excursion for the trip.

Sounds good! I really liked the Distant Suns series so I think I'm in.

Unless one of the new ships turns out to be really good, I'll be back in the Asp; she never made it to 65K last time.

Some people (like me ) may need help with building a ship to do that.

I'm currently heading for SagA* in a stripped down Asp - 5A FSD, advanced and detailed scanner, 6A (IIRC) fuel scoop and everything else is bare minimum - even things like the power plant is the smallest that could fit on the ship (3D I think it was) and even then the max jump range was 34.xx LY.
This is what I've just built (the lasers are on to simulate the weight of the SRV)

Asp Explorer

3A Power Plant would be better than 3D. Same weight and it runs cooler.

As a general rule of thumb, you put in the biggest baddest FSD and fuel scoop you can. D-rate (lightest components to max out jump range) everything else except the power plant; A rated ones handle heat the best so you want the smallest A rated one that's enough to power your systems. With new NPC interdictions I don't think shields are even optional anymore, so at least a lightweight D rated class 3 on an Asp would be good. The rest is optional - AFMU's, heat sinks, etc.

It's a good call, I left a shield on the Diamondback when I went out last time, and the Asp still gets a smidge over 34LY on full tanks even with it......

I'd be interested in this but I think the group will struggle with armed escorts. Once you start putting guns on
either the Asp or Conda you have to compromise jump ranges to have anything worthwhile fitted.

Either, one of the new ships needs to have a 35/40LY JR fully armed and shielded, or there needs to be a class 7 or 8
FSD for the Annie and Asp. Can't see either happening, although I guess we'll know about the new ships soon enough.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Other than that I've got an Anaconda - 'Kashmir' or an Asp - 'Black Dog' which can be outfitted any way that suits.

I was going back out now myself but I guess I'd better continue trading to build up a reserve in case one of the new
ships is the new king of the hill in exploration.

I have met a CMDR in the far rim with a fully shielded and armed anaconda. His maximum jumprange was 37. Now It all depends on Horizon: if we can pass SRVs the specialized fleet is possible, otherwise we will go unarmed and cluster-mass-bump hostile Thargoids for the win!!!!

I have been looking forward to this since it was announced. I'm genuinely looking forward to it.

I am currently testing the below build to check its suitability for the task. Same range as a Cobra. This may all completely change post 1.5 when we see new ships:

Cmdr: Voorheez (Forum name Cdr Voorheez)
Ship: Imperial Courier (26.01LY range/30.3LY max)
Ship Name: Argent Seeker
Time zone: UK GMT

I'm guessing my default ship for this will be the one with the biggest jump range.

Regardless count me in as a definite.

Sounds fantastic. Wish I could go, but my geographical location and available time makes that difficult.

Still, I salute you and those who travel with you o7
