[Distant Worlds] Prospecting Central

I will recheck later, mind all this is prior 2.1,.
.
The change in 2.1 was that at 50 meters you lose the radar target of materials...
if you go back within 50 meters you will pick them up again...
w/ the ONE exception that is...
.
After 3 minutes... the material dissolves into space dust. :D

Nauni 3A-

5 Very Common:

Sulphur, Iron, Carbon, Nickel, Phosphorus

2 Common:

Germanium, Chromium

1 Rare:

Niobium

Doesn't seem to follow the rule on page one. Yet to find a very rare and that's already 9 materials. Was propsecting it due to it being on the border of the bubble after finding some of the "jumponium". Perhaps there's something I'm not understanding here?

And again, on my way to California Nebula I stopped by Synuefai HM-P CB-3 4 for the hell of it and found:

Selenium
Zinc
Phosphorus
Carbon
Sulphur
Iron
Chromium
Nickel
Molybenium

This was mostly found in the deep canyon/ravines.

You'll need to discount all the Very Common materials: Carbon, Iron, Nickel, Phosphorus and Sulphur
These do not count in the 3-2-1 or the 6 Non-VC Material Rules at all
---
So looking at what you have found on Nauni 3A: Germanium (C), Chromium (C), <missing common>, Niobium (R), <missing Rare>, <missing Very Rare>
You would still have another 3 materials left to be found on that planet.
---
At Synuefai HM-P CB-3 4 there is a similar thing going on: Chromium (C), Selenium (C), <missing common>, Molybdenum (R), <missing Rare>, <missing Very Rare>
---
Hope that helps :)

I have plenty of examples now where the 3-2-1 does no longer work since 2.1 dropped.

Sifi CA-D B27-3 D1 High Metal
Chromium, Zinc (C), Zirconium (E), Cadmium, Molybdenum (R), Ruthenium (VR)

Pru Eurk AA-Q D5-20 1 High Metal
Germanium, Manganese (C), Arsenic, Niobium, Tungsten (E), Technetium (VR)

Sifou XZ-P D5-1 B1 High Metal
Chromium, Germanium, Manganese (C), Cadmium, Tin (R), Polonium (VR)

Flyue Dryai IY-F D12-62 5 High Metal
Chromium, Vanadium, Zinc (C), Cadmium, Tin (R), Tellerium (VR)

Col 359 Sector IS-S D4-5 B3 High Metal
Chromium, Germanium (C), Arsenic, Niobium, Tungsten (E), Yttrium (R)

Sifou TR-G B25-0 A1 High Metal
Chromium, Germanium (C), Niobium, Sellenium (E), Cadmium (R), Ruthenium (VR)

In fact, in every case where I managed to find all 6 materials (if the limit remains at 6) then none of the surfaces strictly follows the 3-2-1 rule any longer.

Every single one of those still follows the 3-2-1 distribution, using the split from the OP. The 1/2/3/4/5 rarity thing in-game doesn't correspond directly to them.

Unfortunately, the rarity thing in-game in a vast majority of peoples minds does correspond. Because they are totally unaware of the 3-2-1 rule and its existence before and after 2.1 dropped. Most people I should think are collecting materials for the Engineers and not for jumponium, and for that reason alone FD have screwed this up now.
When you see Yttrium as a 4 leaf, you don't expect it to be as 'rare' as Polonium or Tellerium.
The same can be said of Niobium, classed as an 'Element (3 leaf)', but actually sits in the rare section.

Yet another flaw in the update.

as far as I know, then dropping rates were also changed and is now more suited to the material rarity. why do you see this a flaw?

Because the rarity it's telling you on screen is not the reality of the situation in some cases as I explained.

Do you have a source from FD to explain the drop rate change of materials/rarity?

Personally... I'm still seeing the same drop rates. Although, I am also still using the 15 minute Re-instancing as outlined earlier in the thread that we used extensively in 2.0. There are some places that take longer... some take shorter times to get all 6 materials. That being said... Yttrium has always been a bit easier to find then Polonium. They (meaning FD) just made it more "official" with the new classifications.

Hello,

Did you see the last newsletter. I just put three extracts for planned changes for end July / early august:

"- We will be adjusting the way the surface scanner works to allow you to see what materials are available from any given planet. This should make locating materials far easier.
...
- We’ll be increasing the number of materials spawned when surface mining. Again, to make the process easier and the materials easier to gather.
- The likelihood of finding rare materials in these instances will also be increased, meaning it will be easier to use higher level blueprints."

It will deeply change the way of prospecting !

One very positive consequence is that it will be possible to constitute a huge data base of available materials relatively quickly !

Fly Safe !

I DONT LIKE and im not sorry for the chaps
comeon, thats so lame, it wasnt that hard to find planets with the right materials especially after they introduced the information at the engineers outposts...
they could at least implement some new scanner for that or even better a module for planet probing...

the increased drop rate whould be sufficient
