DIY Head Tracker For A Tenner

I think 10+ hours is quoted. Mine should be here tomorrow so I can tell you for sure :)

FWIW, I have a beta version and I've seen 10 hours straight with it. It does go into sleep mode if not used for a few minutes so no worries about it discharging overnight.

o7

Edit: If you do manage to discharge it, just plug it into a USB socket and carry on playing while it charges.

Ah that's good then. My Elite sessions generally go no longer than three hours. I might opt for the wireless then. Would be nice to have one wireless device. With my mouse, keyboard, X52, gamepad, speakers, headset... I have cables everywhere.

Has anyone else got a Wireless Pro version yet. It works well so far but having a bit of trouble with binding the head tracking on/off button. Wondering if anyone else is having the same problem.

Got mine and no problems with binding or using the disable button. Bound to a switch on my Warthog throttle, it'd be nice to have it set to toggle rather than press on press off.

Works just as smoothly as ever, response is very crisp indeed.[up]

Odd. I did send an email to the EDtracker folk but they are probably snowed under. But this is what I sent.

When I bind Toggle EDtracker on/off to a joystick button the setting is not saved. The Reset is save bound to a joystick button fine.
Example:-
Set EDtracker to a button on CH Pro Throttle result is
CH Pro Throttle USB 4
when saved and reopened it shows
CH Pro Throttle USB X

I tried with an alternative controller (Warthog) Result is
Joystick Hotas Warthog Button 3
when saved and re-opened
Joystick Hotas Warthog X
When re-opened the respective button doesn't work and needs re-assigning again. I tried with a keyboard key and that works fine.

But if yours is ok I am a bit confused.

Just tried it again to make sure :)

Set the disable to the radio switch press (thumb hat) on throttle. Close the UI, restart and it is still bound, also after a reboot.

Have you tried saving to a profile and then reloading it in?

Edit: sorry, I see you have saved it :(

Edit Edit: SORRY, you are correct CMDR, Joysick Hotas Warthog X is listed. Buglet found, switch DOES NOT work!

Phew thank's.
BTW I couldn't find a way to save a profile and presumed it saved when you closed the app. Looking at the handbook on the site it looks like there used to be a save button, unless I am missing something.

hi there, and apologies for being so late to the party ;)

my mpu-92/65 just arrived. i wired it to my pro micro, flashed it with the edtracker gui (fw edtracker2_9250 4.0.5), but now i seem to have a problem.
i can connect to the pro micro (it's red led flashes when i press "CONNECT TO TRACKER"), but the gui just keeps showing "NOT CONNECTED" at the top.
all the buttons below "tracker config" are greyed out, no movement on any axis or the temperature curve.
i checked all the connections with a multimeter from arduino pin to mpu pin, and all of them beeped just fine.
(here they are in case i did make a mistake: vcc-vcc, gnd-gnd, 2-sda, 3-scl, 7-int, ado-gnd).

i hope someone can help me figure this out!

Anyone have v3.0.0.8 available for download? The new version just sucks so hard. Nothing but issues with my year old wired edtracker. Constant crashes, crappy calibration etc etc. I reinstalled Windows and went to download the software and was surprised at the new version. Just nothing but stupid crashes. Twice already it spammed the "EDtracker UI already running" message so much I had to sign out because there was no way to kill the task.

Never had any problems before this version, but of course the edtracker site doesnt have the old version to download. Dont know what Im gonna do with this thing now if I cant find 3.0.0.8. Ebay probly and just get trackir or something.

edit: contacted support, they gave me a link:

I am having the same issue it seems. I have tried all the versions targetted at the 9250. If I flash my Tracker with an earlier version for the non-magnetometer board it works, but of course without the yaw correction. I have posted a support request on the edtracker site. I suspect that we need new firmware for the MPU-92/65.

UPDATE - the MPU-92/65 is the part number - in my case from Hobby Components - but the IC is still the 9250. So that's not the problem apparently.

Just jumping in on this thread as it is my goto for info on EDTracker, I have a small issue with EDTracker running through Opentrack.

I purchased an EDtracker pro from the website, I have the EDTracker Pro UI from the same site, latest version which is now black background. Also Opentrack 2.3.9 set up using the instruction from said website.

I have this up and working but have found that I can not switch off headtracking by any means once the game is running. If I run with just EDTracker then the in game controls to switch off headtracking work, set it up with opentrack and suddenly it's "always on" when in game.

I have tried many ways to access the off and reset switches, using both keyboard and joystick but nothing seems to work... it is as if the game takes total focus away from Opentrack and no keys pressed can access it.

I have EDTracker and Opentrack both open on my second monitor while running the game and the only way I can switch off tracking is to pass my mouse across to the second screen and click the off switch on Opentrack.
I have tried the three different ways of using ED on my main screen ie windowed, full screen etc but nothing changes with in game head tracking.

I am totally stumped now, I really like the extra feel that Opentrack gives to headtracking but I can't run the game with it constantly on as the boards at Stations flit about making them hard to read.

Anyone got any ideas what I can do to make it happen?

Have you tried running either the EDTracker UI or Opentrack as Administrator? Depending on which one you're using to do the "turn off" feature... it might be necessary to allow the application to intercept the keypress...

Not sure if you got this sorted, but I moved house and dismantled and then rebuilt my pc with a new case, then rebuilt the whole thing once in the new place with my edtracker connected again. Wouldnt work, even when it said connected it wasnt working. It seemed to be a USB 3.0 incompatibility, if I moved the edtracker to an older usb port it worked fine again.

Not sure if that could be the problem for you.

Just set Opentrack to run as administrator and it works!!! Thank you I have been tearing my hair out (if I had any)

Strangely though, the EDTracker UI would not let me set it as admin, the whole option was greyed out. Also the "Toggle EDTracker on/off" on the bottom of the interface is greyed too.

Just out of curiosity: Have you tried setting a toggle-shortcut in Opentrack itself? Because that is what works for me in almost every game, like ETS2 or Assetto Corsa, without running it as administrator using EDTracker pro.
