DIY Head Tracker For A Tenner

With the new Pro GUI, I see there are other options for orientation. Are these Valid? I can mount sideways now?

With the EDTracker Pro, yes, but 'your mileage may vary'. I've tested with it on the side (USB cable downwards) and it all looks good but I play with it on top so most of my tuning/tweaking has been in that mode. Also top-mount keeps it well away from headset speakers/mics (not an issue if you're using a cap etc).

If you do go for the side mount and hit any issues just drop us an email via the EDTracker website.

The magnetometer in the EDTracker Pro has a lot less noise compared to the 9150 based EDTracker. Does that translate into an improved experience? How far along are plans for a wireless version?

FWIW, the HID routines that I used are all pure C, if I remember rightly. I can let you have the relevant code once I've refactored for beta if it'd help?

If you can contribute working code for OSX joystick support you'll have it by the next release, opposed to within few months.

With the 9150 we managed to compensate for the mag noise in the code. We compensate less in the Pro firmware :) So as far as mag noise goes, the end experience may be a smidge better. We have made marginal improvements in other areas within the Pro firmware and under test conditions (e.g whacking the scaling up high) these do add up to visible improvement. I certainly think the current combination of Pro/Firmware/UI gives me the best experience of all the versions.

Wireless - We're about to kick off the design of prototype II (lots of lessons learned from the first wireless proto). Then we have to jump through some accreditation hoops before we're allowed to sell them. So "2016" :)

I've now had all versions of Edtracker and while the 9150 was a marked improvement over the 6050 as far as "experience" goes, it's less so with 9150>pro but pro does really feel snappier, more fluid. I have also tried an LED clip and PS3 camera and that works really well but takes a lot of settng up to guard against spurious refections messing up the LED detection. Compared with the Edtracker Pro tho' the lag is really noticable even at 120fps.

Now I use EDTracker pro for Yaw, Pitch and Roll and My LED clip for XYZ in games like DCS through Opentrack.

Other than a wireless version, I really can't see the pro being bettered, it's that good. Combine it with Opentrack FTW!

Just some feedback on your pro website, the checkout/basket is dark and then you cant see the delivery charge added to the base cost as below, the screenshot actually shows up the amount etc better than when looking at it normally through my browser.

Oh, wow, thanks for that! I'll get onto that this weekend, I thought I'd got all the CSS sorted...

Anyone here have their EDTracker application set to "Start Minimised"? Does your hotkey work when this happens?

When I start the application and it's (automatically) minimised, I have to maximised it and re-minimise it before the hotkey will work.

Just wondering if anyone else can confirm it is/isn't a problem for them?

ps: I have to say the latest couple of version seem very good at retaining their direction. I'm definitely not having to use the hotkey as much these days!

Works fine for me...? I've mentioned it to Rob just in case, but if anyone else can re-create, drop us an email/PM with details.

Rob is aware of the issue, and I believe he's having trouble recreating too. Hence me wondering if anyone else was experiencing it.

I'm on Windows 8.1 if that makes any difference!?

Hello.

I have a EDtracker I no longer need. (Ace for 30 min.. but then I start to feel a bit sick!). Not sure on the version. Bought the newest version in Aug 2014.

Would like to pass it on to any commander in the UK wishing to try out a tracker.

Any tracker wannabes out there in the void?

No charge. Will just pack it up and pop it in the post.

Hi
I would like to thank Rob for his help over the last week or so.
I had bought the EDtracker pro and had some issues with the post(post office at fault not Rob).
Emailed Rob and explained my situation. Rob was fantastic and dispatched a replacement that day, which I received two days later.
Managed to get it setup yesterday and it has changed the game play so much.
This is an amazing product and the guys at EDtracker deserve big rep for this.
Well done, and thanks again for a great product and fantastic service.

Do you live in The Netherlands, by any chance?
I do...and I also had an issue with the local post.
After some email contact, I got a replacement send to me, which arrived within a few days.

Excellent service, from EDTracker.
But I hope they manage to locate the source of these problems, and have some insurance, to cover these unfortunate events.

Hi Andy
I'm from the UK.
I can't fault the service from EDtracker.
Rob emailed me to say that the first tracker that he sent had been returned to him marked "Not at this address".
