DLC 19 Speculation

I want both, but I would still prefer foliage. We’re still missing kelp, blue gum, more varied palms (especially for Florida and California)

I just really hope we get Sea Otters to make beautiful tanks showcasing kelp forests like Monterrey bay aquarium

If we do get sea otters it will most likely look like this 😭:

(Ignore the seals, now it has sea otters)
The underwater portion has one cloth kelp thing and is overgrown with algae. I mean it looks like a PZ habitat with the overwhelming amount of toys in the habitat :p

Meh. I need more foliage but idc about much more scenery. Is always welcomed of course but at this point i just want for them to focus on bring us the animals we want and invest the resources in that rather than making building pieces. The only thing that would excite me about education pieces is if they are interactable like the ones they released a way back but more customizable.
Ngl something as simple as a basic tent would go miles for theming and is somehow still not in the game, so no there defenetly is still alot of great options for scenery pieces. Another thing id love to see would be typical poaching items like cages, bear traps, etc as most larger zoos by now have education about poaching. I have never seen a habitat for asiatic black bears, sloth bears or sun bears without some kind of display and education about the gruesome ways that they are poached for their body fluids and best of all these items would be great multipurpose.
Just of the top of my head, uses for a classic bear trap:
  • Poaching camp
  • general Education Item
  • North American hunting hud (very common zoo theme atleast in europe)
  • Decorative item for something like an old shed

Yeah this is the stuff I’m talking about, the Bronx Zoo had a really cool poaching segment by the tigers. North Carolina Zoo has some stuff by the elephants, Franklin Park Zoo has ivory tusks, even Southwick Zoo has stuff by their rhinos. It’s not easily replicated in game. Also educational items are great for filling up spaces, so besides thematically fitting, it also helps avoid dead space.

That Franklin Park Zoo section is pretty lowkey cool! It always catches me offguard seeing that faux zebra carcass in the tree...

Yeah another reason why I want more education stuff. To show off a leopard kill they have a carcass in a tree, for some lions they have bones from previous kills lying around. I love thematic stuff like that in zoos. It shows off how zoos can be educational, and are more than just an “animal in a cage”.

Yea plus it would help theming in higher budget projects a ton with the possibility of making storylines like the original vision for Animal Kingdom’s Kilimanjaro Safaris

The good and bad part is, with allmost any animal on this planet being poached it would be an universally useable scenery set. Yeah the specifics of how and why differ but you could make an education display about poaching for literally any animal that isnt domestic

Ah yes the repaint job will take 6 months.
My standards are so low I think I would be exited even if the only bird is a paint job.

While I still think the American flamingo is the one that will be picked, I actually think the Chilean flamingo is growing on me. Especially it can actually be housed outside in the cold, which is pretty cool.

Either way I’m so desperate for birds I’ve been waiting for more options even for the most basic of them.

Hey mate, my most wanted bird is also a clone so i get you.

In fact we are to get a latam pack and more than one bird i totally expect them to be the rhean and the flamingo. Don't see them doing anything more unique like spoonbill or ibis tbh.

I guess I should put this in perspective:
  1. In a year (2023-24) we got 4 pigs. Red river hog, European wild boar, collared peccary, and the Tamworth pig. So if you love pigs you can make a pig zoo and feature multiple biomes and continents. In total there are now 6 pigs in game including the warthog and babirusa.
  2. In a year (2023-2024) we got 4 antelope. Addax, dama gazelle, saiga, and now the dik-dik. Add that onto the already existing antelope roster, which I can’t be bothered to count up but it is over 10 species.
Since the game launched in 2019 we have still yet to get another flamingo. It’s gonna be an upcoming six years, and we have no new world flamingo species. I agree there are some more exciting animals to add to the game, but why does Frontier constantly strengthen certain parts of the roster and leave others to dry. Outside of Monkeys, considering primates as a whole we have a great selection, same with crocodilians, dogs, cats, and bears.

I just get a tad touchy about it I guess. I know they aren’t exiting, but being able to just have one other flamingo to play with would be amazing. Same with cranes, gamebirds, waterfowl, etc. It’s been over a years since we got the swan and we still haven’t got any other waterfowl.
