DLC 19 Speculation

Frontier said this was going to be an animal pack. But are we thinking...
  1. Traditional animal pack with 7 habitat species + 1 exhibit species
  2. New format with 7 habitat species + scenery items
  3. Some other format?
Putting in #3 there because, well, we still haven't gotten a pack that's bigger than the norm. And it still feels strange that we're right back here pondering a next pack when this last one felt so final in virtually every way except for the animal roster.
They said "there are lot's coming"... maybe that means this is a bigger pack. Or that we have more than one pack left for next year. Or that it would be a combined scenery + animal pack with 8 animals and scenery set. IDK.

TBH they seem to think they don't need to keep catering to the builders since PC 2 is coming out so they have been focusing on just animal packs for the animal lovers.

Maybe the animal packs sell better?

I’m gonna go with another 7 habitat animals and scenery items. But man do I want them to go back to exhibit animals.

Or maybe we do get something bigger, or something different? They did say it would be an animal pack, but the past two “animal packs” have been different from the rest.

Would love to see 7 habitat species + 1 exhibit species + demanded scenery. It would let both scenery and animals lovers enjoy the pack.

Now that we know Zookeeper's is not the last pack, has that changed anyone's perspective on it?

While I'll still slightly perturbed by the lack of birds, honestly I think this might be on the strongest animal pack in years.
It's not Ungulate City, with the two being pretty stellar picks.
We FINALLY got more non-ape, primate representation, with the sifaka really shaking up things up with it's locomotion.
South America got a tip of the hat with Paddington.
And the African Spurred Tortoise might be the best model sans the chicken this year.

Who do you think??
Yeah my opinion is changed somewhat. But a lot of it will depend on what will come in the next pack/s (and yes, opening up to the idea there may be 2 more to get us to 20 packs).

More positive spin on the sifaka, though I still maintain that this should have been a New World Monkey instead.

Feel the same about the Dik-Dik. There was absolutely no need for another African Antelope, in my own opinion.

The rest I was either happy or fine with so those are really the only two that would have improved any. When the pack came out I did make the comment that it was a good pack on its own but a disappointing pack as a finale pack.

Zookeeper's feels the same to me after the reveal of at least one more DLC.
I said at the time all the animals were moderately-highly requested. I got Markhor, which is 1 of my 2 remaining animal faves not yet in game(Blackbuck is the other), so that boosts the pack up. Most of the remaining roster I don't care much for personally...with the Sifaka being probably the coolest out of the bunch. I haven't tried the Baboon yet though.

But the downsides are still there. With such a broad theme they literally could have put any animal that can exist in a zoo in this DLC, and while the choices are fine, the choices they didn't make are...interesting.
No exhibit animal, which is strange. Cobra or Chameleon - 2 glaring holes in the exhibit roster, would have been perfect.
I like the tents and apple trees, but the rest doesn't do anything for me.

There's also the feeling that it is just such a random pack. I like when there is a clear theme to a DLC. It really brings it all together.
So my rating is the same as original 6/10.

It deserves all the hate for implementation. It somehow doesnt even feature basic indrid morphology. Animal in game is essentially ring-tail painted as sifaka with jumping lol.
I agree that the Sifaka should've been handled much differently, that's a reasonable position to have. But there's a clear difference between opposing an animal's inclusion and opposing an animal's execution. The user you replied to was probably referring to people hating on its inclusion.

I don't think anybody was mad at the Malayan tapir for being added to the game, they were mad that it was a reskin of the Baird's tapir (understandable). On the other hand, people were upset about the Sifaka before we even saw it in-game, mostly because they would have preferred a New-world monkey and thought the Sifaka was "stealing a spot". I understand that frustration, but imo, "this animal should have been a different animal" is a less justified argument than "this animal wasn't animated/modeled accurately".

So yeah, hate the way they implemented the Sifaka all you want, but there are people saying it didn't deserve to be in the game in the first place, which is kinda silly in my eyes.

Very true, it was a mishmash of animals. Like the theme was "Here's some animals you can find in a zoo".

yeah, no kidding. for a zoo game??

Oh, I understand why they suddenly decided to go on with planet zoo dlc, I bought the Petting Zoo DLC last weekend, it was the only DLC I didn't buy because I wanted to make a statement to Frontier, BUT, I also wanted to download the all-animal zoo from STEAM, the one from the youtube poster, and to do that you had to have all the DLC, so I bought the Petting Zoo pack... I must say I really like the chicken, the others, well, not so much. But anway, this was the final draw for frontier and just the extra amount of money they needed to continue, so they decided to go on with creating new dlc's during 2025, you can thank me later, or just send it to my creditcard.

I do think that the pack is a good one. Not too good or too bad. It's definitely not for everyone and that's okay. Personally, I love every animal included in the game (to the point of not liking the scenery packs, no matter how practical they are), whithout looking to much on what animals are missing, which is the base for all problems for this pack. If they included the animals I proposed for idea 1 (pelican, walrus, blackbuck, coati, BH monkey, tree roo, cobra, serval and rhea) I think it would be great to finish PZ, and would make the additions of the zookeper's pack great. I'm suspicious that they decided to do another pack so the finaly of the game doesn't end on such a sad note.

My perfect lineup for the next year would look probably like this:

Latin America / Neotropical animal pack:

South American coati
- highly requested and very different from what we already have, quite popular species in zoos and has very active behaviors.
Black howler monkey - finally another SA primate, highly requested by the community and can use the chorus behaviors.
Ocelot - mandatory cat and the main carnivore of the pack, cuteness factor and good selling point.
Greather rhea - bird, mildly popular but great for creating South American mixed exhibits that are very popular in European zoos.
Patagonian mara - super interesting rodent that’s the equivalent of the small antelope but it’s from the SA savanna.
Tamandua - super interesting and unique arboreal wildcard.
Vicuña - very cute animal, and yes I think that a wild camelid could still be very useful, for me lama and alpaca is like having only alpine goat without having the ibex or markhor, plus every pack needs an easy to make animal and an ungulate.

Nice to get but not mandatory:
WTE: Scarlet ibis - a taste of what we might get in PZ2.

Endangered animal pack:

Goodfellow’s tree kangaroo
- cute, highly requested and very unique in every way. Also very needed Oceania representation.
Secretary bird - bird and the most requested animal right now that is not my favorite but lots of people want it and I respect it.
Geoffroy's spider monkey - would be a challenge to make but would bring very nice diversity to the SA roster and would be super fun to watch and build for.
Perè David’s deer - finally an asian deer, that also have very distinct behaviors and spends most of it’s time in the shallow waters. Brought from the brink of extinction and the only extinct in the wild mammals species, plus my absolute favourite.
West African slender-snouted crocodile - finally an African crocodile and very different from what we already have plus an interesting carnivore of the pack and I’m sure Frontier would execute it beautifully.
Gray crowned crane - should not be so hard to make and is a real staple of many zoos, plus it’s a great bird.
Western Giant eland - extremely endangered, largest antelope out there and should not be so hard to make, its also very beautiful.

Nice to get but not mandatory:
WTE: Golden lion tamarin - would be a great base for creating other tamarin and marmoset species and another monkey.

Anniversary: Blackbuck and/or Serval
