first of all, i just joined so hi everyone.
second of all I'm surprised no-one has suggested the possibility this is just a new world pack and the final 2 picks are just echidna and perentie
Australia is functionally part of the old world with many groups of animals such as parrots and rodents being the old world variety in Australia with only the marsupials being distinctly shared between the new world and Australia even so there is an old/new world dichotomy amongst marsupials to.
The term old world usually is in reference to the evolutionary divide that happen when a group of animals got stuck in the americas and speciated resulting in very similar groups of animals across the atlantic ie bison, porcupines, parrots and monkeys.
Australia is almost entirely absent from this discussion being found by white people after the term was already familiarised to reference the Atlantic split. It also feature no major old vs new world comparisons so there was no desire to assign it a grouping but is generally either left out alongside parts of south east asia or assigned to the new world arbitrarily even though the continent it shares the majority of its non mammalian fauna and flora with is africa and asia. ]
Also most of the animals they picked are not heavily associated with the split aside from the saki and maybe the flamingo and the scenery is too heavily inspired by Mexican and by extension spanish colonial influence to be a strong new world theming.
