To be honest, I really don't think that's a possibility at all. It's pretty clear they've been avoiding releasing a console bundle and PC DLC in the same month the past year, I don't think they're just doing it without a good reason. I'd say they're trying to avoid confusion amongst the player-base, which I totally understand.

If PC2 gets the Easter slot, which I still highly doubt at this point as I don't think they're going to change course yet again as changing course last time was to stabilize things, I think there's a much higher chance that you get a PC2 and a PZ PC DLC in April than that you get a console bundle and a PZ PC DLC in March.
It's an interesting point, and does fit with what we've seen pretty well.

Thinking about it, this is the first unlocked since the January free update, so that might be the PC version thing they briefly talk about this stream.

This is a fun one! I tried to keep each pick as closely focused on the theme as possible so a lot of these are relatively iconic picks that just got missed...
  • Deluxe: Blackbuck
  • Arctic: Walrus
    • Personally, I don't really care about this species but I'd argue it's the most iconic arctic species after the polar bear and reindeer. If I were going for personal choice and ignoring realism? I'd probably pick the puffin.
  • South America: South American Coati
  • Australia: Greater Bilby
  • Aquatic: Australian Pelican
  • SE Asia: Muntjac
  • Africa: Hornbill
    • Less requested, but certainly more iconic than the secretary bird
  • North America: NA Black Bear
  • Europe: Mallard Duck
  • Wetlands: NA River Otter
  • Conservation: Black-footed Ferret
    • Bit of a selfish pick here, but it's endangered and has an interesting conservation story!
  • Twilight: Aye-Aye
  • Grasslands: Secretary Bird
  • Tropical: Ocelot
  • Arid: Burrowing Owl
  • Oceania: Matschie's Tree Kangaroo
  • Eurasia: Golden Pheasant
  • Barnyard: African Pygmy Goat
  • Zookeeper: Golden Lion Tamarin

A subtle mention or nod would work best if they won't be ready to announce anything within the next week or two. Because they've kind of set the precedent that whenever they tease something (whether it's on socials or a livestream) that means news is coming within the next few days, maybe a week or so at most.

It's hard though, because I truly don't expect them to get super specific with a timeframe for release. They've never done that before. And I also don't see them putting too much effort into hints or teasing things out either. That's honestly why I think they dropped the key art last time (i.e., no extra effort). So I'm not sure what they might do beyond literally just saying "PC players, we aren't done yet - stay tuned." But even that wouldn't work so well unless they gave it a specific timeframe because of what I stated above. So hopefully if they keep it high level like that they mention "weeks" or something to help manage expectations.

I would also like to point out that just because they don't mention anything in the livestream it doesn't mean we'll necessarily have to wait until end of March for more info. They can just do it all via socials, y'know?

There's two more from the current season pass to be released. And since the season pass ends in March, the running assumption is that they'll be announcing those formally tomorrow. After that, they still need to drop the Barnyard and Zookeeper packs - plus whatever else is coming in this next update/DLC and anything beyond that (if that's a thing). And I kinda feel like they'll be saying something about that tomorrow as well (e.g., "Barnyard and Zookeeper packs will be coming to console later this year" or something).
I wasnt talking about dlc, when console first released it was behind by about 2 free updates it didnt get the peccary or gift shops and I believe that when the leopard came for the anniversary last year it also was missing from console. We know the timeframe for the remaining dlc but has the other content been released yet or is it still yet to come.

I do agree that that the key art was done because it was low effort and effective and that if they are ready to announce it properly next week whatever happens it will be subtle. That's why I am expecting something like "and for our pc players your going to have to be patient a little longer while we work on an early spring release for the next paid dlc" Its vague, builds excitement, literally is a sentence and is exactly what I expect besides silence from frontier.

What im hoping for with the expectation the dlc is releasing in april is an image that basically just says coming soon its set in a zoo with a couple of hints towards themes maybe an empty enclosure hinting at type of animal, climate or backdrop to hint at theming or maybe a few new items hidden in the build. This to me is best case scenario I dont actually want them to release the key art this early since it will fully kill speculation by the time dlc is actually here.

Sorry, I misunderstood! There's definitely some "free content" that needs to be added. I'm sure this isn't comprehensive but I took a quick glance through the update notes and it looks like the peccary and leopard aren't in-game yet... And the petting zoo function isn't either (which I'm sure will come with the Barnyard pack).

Yeah, I hear that, and agree it would be fun! But I still think we'd get this flurry of activity for like a week... Then people would tune out. But I guess this would do them better than just shrugging and verbally saying something. 😄

I agree all signs point to planet zoo dlc releasing early April but given how hard the community has crashed recently I can see them teasing it this stream and next stream
I honestly don't think that's going to have that much of an influence. We've had long droughts before, the community hasn't really changed much either it's just the same old same old.

My money is on a nod towards the fact that we're still getting a DLC or maybe an update teaser, but nothing more than that. I'm assuming they're going to give us a look at the console bundle, a look back at the past year of PC and then "We still have more coming" and that will be that. The majority of the stream will go to PC2 anyway.

Id say that pelicans dont really fit the aquatic pack as that pack was all about the new deep dive mechanic. And pelicans dont really dive.

I wish i could find the thread where i posted this because basically none of the animals i selected for this made it in haha

But i have to add barnyard and zk's now, so i'll edit it later.

Yeah clearly the mission of Frontier is to try to save the soldier PC2. Their updates keep the player the first hours, then it's probably not satisfying enough to keep them. I could see more JWE3 than PZ.
At the moment we are talking, PC2 is behind F1 Manager 24, JWE2 and very close to PC in term of players connected.

PC2 means more in term of mid term development than a new DLC of PZ that is a 5yrs game running to the end of its life.

As far as the unlocked I will just read up on here later. Despite definitely wanting more animals there's no real hype for me now that it's obvious that flying birds aren't coming. When their hype trailed off (after Eurasia IMO), my hype also trailed off. I still love the game I just no longer get excited about what's to come, though I will definitely be glad if we get a Latin America focused pack, my feelings of anticipation just aren't what they were from 2020-2023.

I hope I’m wrong, but I’m really expecting the Planet Zoo segment of unlocked to be talking only about console DLCs and then a read through of the notes for update 1.18.2 for PZ PC from January, then closing out with “more news to come soon.”

I’m not getting up at 5am to be disappointed by no new info about a PZ PC DLC.
