Deer are constantly shoved under the bus in this game while other ungulate taxa get their time to shine... We even got the peccary, but still not a single deer in almost three years.
Which is why I'd be so against another camelid: we already have 4 camelids, which is 2/3rds of the living species; I get it, we only have the domestic ones, but still. Out of 40+ deer species, we only have 4, two of which exclusive to Europe.
A White-Tailed Deer would be the perfect ungulate for this pack. A smaller deer from not one, but TWO fairly underrepresented areas in terms of similar-sized ungulates - North and South America.
The problem with it being a bird is that birds are generally distinct from a side profile, so it begs the question of why they wouldn't do that consistently for a decoration. With Vultures specifically wingspan is a pretty significant thing too.
Interestingly the decoration itself alternates between diagonal hatching for both known birds and horizontal/vertical hatching for the other two, one mammal, the other our subject.
Assuming it's a mammal, it's one that climbs trees. Closest alternative seems to be Virginia Oppossum (would be expected to be a rounder face, or show off the pointed snout), then Black Bear, which isn't too close.
In terms of non-Americans, Goodfellow's Tree-Kangaroo or Spotted Cuscus might be closest. Could be a Gibbon I suppose, but Black crested is the only one on the 24 meta-wishlist.
A point against the Saki is a tree obscured tail, which is a pretty odd design choice, but a lack of obvious tailless alternatives leaves a tail as the only option.
Maybe this is what it's depicting, we'll find out next week I guess.
I've got an Uruguayan bakery around the corner, the Medialunas are pretty good, granted appearance wise they are croissant variants.

I will say, the more I think about it, the more I at least appreciate that the North America-exclusive species we got in this pack are iconic for its deserts. Deserts are among my favourite ecosystems and those of NA are probably my favourite outside Australia (possibly because they remind me of Aus deserts in a lot of ways), so if there's any environment from the continent I'd like to see fleshed out more it's the arid regions. Neither the coyote or bighorn are animals I'd have prioritised - something like the ringtail (my favourite NA mammal), greater roadrunner, California quail or even new exhibit reptiles like the giant horned lizard, collared lizard, mountain kingsnake or a rattlesnake that actually looks like a rattlesnake would be picks I prefer - but they are at least two very recognisable species for the region, and make North America's deserts feel more full than they did previously.
I also genuinely prefer the coyote over the black bear when it comes to widespread North American carnivorans so that's a minor win for me I guess lol. I just dearly hope they aren't hiding another NA carnivoran clone (cough cough black bear or bobcat) in one of those precious last two slots (which should really go to South America anyway).

I really love to see these added. Like this is the cool thing about ZT1, it has Elephant seal.
Looking at the image again, I realise the branch doesn't look like anything in-game. Here's me hoping now that we may get some new enrichment/trees that look like that. Although I'm afraid it's just an artistic choice.

Well I am sure it is not a vulture, they would not add just one bird this unique in a random pack instead of full pack of birds like that and make a huge deal out of it... And honestly it does not fit any other new world primate because the white head/posture is pretty unique to saki. Which I am really happy about. Never was too interested in Spider Monkeys due to their low captive presence at least in my area.

This. I've always been pretty chill during the wait of previous DLCs but now that we know we have a chance of getting a few South American species, the wait is getting on my nerves
I just want to be sure that we're getting a coati.
What's with the vulture delusion? We're already gaslighting everyone into thinking it has to be the coati and the mara that are missing, when we might actually get a guanaco and bobcat.

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't have the Mara (sadly) but I would be in complete shock not having the Coati. Both are at the #1 spot of the current meta wishlist. It would be crazy from Frontier to ignore them.
