DLC18 discussion and predictions

I agree that three more hoofstock species wouldn't hurt.
  • Alpine region I'd choose either Aoudad (its yet another caprine yes but its a hot weather version which we don't have) or Japanese Serow (its just from my personal wishlist...) Or, maybe a Chinese Goral since it is as unique as a Serow but could be found in subtropical forests towards the extreme South of their range.
  • I think Elk are near essential. They're beautiful and NA could use a more typical version of Deer than the giant Moose and the Northern Caribou IMO. That said, I'd love Asian Deer. Pere David's Deer has the best/interesting conservation story and is elegant looking. Reeve's Muntjac would add a smaller ungulate which is pretty necessary! Plus its among the most unique deer ever. Greater Malayan Chevrotain is also unique (not even an actual deer) and is tiny and is from the SE Asia forests.
  • Blackbuck I think is almost a given. Its elegant and adds an antelope to warm weather Asia. I think an oddball instead could be a Nilgai with pretty coloration and unique build among the antelopes.
I'd personally pick of those: Aoudad, Chevrotain and Nilgai.
As far as non hoofstock animals filling similar niche I think Rock Hyrax is the best!
I want them all... I'm so weak

The ungulates I'd get the most out of are a muntjac (for temperate Asian sections--they're also commonly mixed with red panda) and a common eland (very cool antelope that's also much more common in US captivity than the base game African antelope)

Don't really rock with the Rhesus Macaque, Lion-Tailed is way more better IMO for Indian Representation, Rhesus Macaque is just something you would see on YouTube pick pocketing people.
I mean yeah i guess? But thats also why they are (imo) the better india representation. When i think of monkeys in india i think of those living in urban environments, which isnt really the case with the lion tailed.
Thats why i think that when it comes to representing india with a monkey rhesus macaque and grey langurs are the best options.

But thats not to say the lion tailed would be a bad addition by any means, they just have others perks like their conservation and more intersting looks.

(Also if we by some miracle one day have a decent roster of monkeys i think the grey langur would be the best option for india as it the most distinct from the japanese macaque, mandrill and especially a potential baboon, but since thats borderline impossible it is a moot point really)

Hot take, but of all the South American monkeys I think I might actually prefer the white faced saki. I have just seen them more, and I think they are a good size for the type of habitats I want to build.
I think the saki is pretty cool aswell, although i still prefer the howler or spider as these are on the large side of NW monkeys and therefore would provide a better variety to the capuchin imo. Whereas the saki is surprisingly even a bit smaller than the capuchin.

Still id be more than happy to get the saki in the final pack, beggars cant be chosers

How it feels to be a monkey and bird fan in Planet Zoo: asking for one animal for years but being overjoyed because you got a completely different animal, but beggars can’t be choosers.

After seeing the black howler in the wild i really want them now haha they were always my prefered choice anyway but now even more than before.

Funny enough despite also interacting with spider, wolly and squirrel monkeys, out of those three the squirrel monkey is my second most wanted 😅

But really i love White face sakis as well. They are super cute.

I also think the squirrel monkey is an underrated choice, while I understand it doesn’t offer a different body size to the capuchin they are super common in zoos. Likewise squirrel monkeys are perfect “children’s zoo” animals. Which is also an unfulfilled niche

More ungulates really. After the last year im just over them.
That being said there are a very select couple few i wouldnt mind getting like a muntjac, but in general im just fed up with hoofstock and would prefer to not get more, sorry to everyone who wants them

Another thing is the bird slot(s) in a final pack being taken up by a "just more of them same" type bird like a penguin, rhea or flamingo, if there is one more bird for PZ i need it to be something new. Again sorry to everyone who wants them
yeah my answer to this too. A focus or unbalance in favor of ungulates. I mean, Masai Giraffe for me is fine, though I know an unpopular choice. Muskox, Blackbuck or Markhor also work both for me, and the Pere Davids Deer or Elk are alright, but other than those 6, no thank you to more ungulates. And I'm not wanting all of those in a pack either, no more than 2 would be the most I'd want of more ungulates. Just giving my own general preferences.

Team NOMU!(no more ungulates)

Honestly all this talk about ungulates just makes me want to highlight ones I would be a big fan of. I just have ungulate fatigue, and that’s mostly to getting similar sized animals/ animals that fill the same role over and over again!

So let’s get this party started!
  • Hyrax and Klipspringer. Both of these will fill a cool niche of being a small and “climbing” ungulate unique to a specific African habitat. They are both visually distinct from what we have in game, and as I stated represent a type of habitat that we don’t really have representation for.
  • Peere David’s deer, and muntjac. Both are great deers, with the muntjac being a great small deer. I prefer the Peere David, the Bronx Zoo has an awesome habitat for them. With a large water area at the center, the deer were just chilling in the water and I caught video of one rolling in the mud! Not to mention it being an endangered species and having an amazing conservation story ties into the themes of the game very well.
  • Chevrotain. Like the hyrax, this small deer species will be in a class of its own being so unique from other animals in its family. I also love tropical houses, and guess where you can find this guy at the Bronx Zoo?
  • Guar. PZ does have a good amount of bovids, but I think it should be noted this is the biggest bovid in the world. Very cool Indian animal representation.
  • Musk ok. We have a lot of mountain style caprines, how about one that’s a remnant from the ice age? Very cool animal, and if you make a northern zoo placing them on the opposite side of a wolf habitat would be super cool.

They should add a battle pass for animals in the next planet zoo 2 but instead of battle it’s a zoo and you get more animals the better you zoo
This makes me wonder how they could improve the challenge mode. Like it would be cool if you started the zoo having access to only 1 or 2 star animals then as you improve the zoo you unlock new animals to use similar to the Xbox zoo game I believe.
