DLC18 discussion and predictions

Nothing really, some people are getting far too obsessed with the planco dictionary (the language the guests speak in planet zoo and planet coaster). The dictionary has entries like "hamadryas" and "Goodfellow" which people think is hidden meanings for a future dlc adding hamadryas baboon and Goodfellows tree kangaroo.
Not to be that person, but what else could it mean? Why would Frontier add these specific names of highly requested animals within the last month if they do not have plans to add them to the game? I can't think of a single reason.

Maybe an agent of chaos at frontier knowing we will find it and entering several names of animals they know will encourage an argument 😂 We found a mention of birds possibly linking to frontier on a niche thread on zoochat out of all places.

Ok then. I kiss my SouthAmerican animals goodbye then. This points to a an around the world pack with little to no SA representation (as usual). I'm sad again now. Though i must say secretary and tree kangaroo do excite me a bit.
Assmuming the dictionnary really meant something, there could be a chance for "spectacled bear", "spider monkey", "American flamingo" and "bush dog". I guess that's better than nothing...

They seriously added those words, but as our Captain says, other than that there are no strong indications for anything
The fact that these rather specific animals were added at the same time as all of the animals we got in all of the DLC from Wetlands to Barnyard should at least raise an eyebrow, though. It’s not like this seems to be a routinely updated dictionary, and it’s not like it contains a semi-comprehensive list of animals - it’s missing plenty of the more “everyday” animals you’d likely prioritize when trying to flesh out a constructed language, such as squirrel, rabbit, shark, or goose. Yet for some reason they felt compelled to come up with translations for and include echidna and hamadryas? Nah, I’m not buying it. I’m not saying these animals are explicitly confirmed for the next DLC or whatever, but there’s absolutely something with some intent behind it going on here.

Hamadryas can also mean a genus flowering herb from South America or a genus of Butterflies.

Edit: Lord and Howe are also still within the dictionary. Baboon or Secretary bird or Impala could Just have been skipped ideas. My advice would be to just Look very careful and with Low expectations into that list.

I agree there was intent behind them especially something as niche as echidna and hamadryas. This doesn't mean they are necessarily coming just that at one point the were planned and made it quite far into the planning either that means they are yet to come or they were scraped that is the only 2 options I see.

True, but why would Frontier add it in reference to those? They don't have translations in the dictionary for scientific names.

This is information from Frontier that was added presumably when they updated the dictionary for the Barnyard DLC. Sure, the info is from a very odd source. But why on Earth would Frontier add these, if it wasn't on accident? I have a very strong feeling they wouldn't do it to mess with us. They don't do that kind of stuff and it would be weird to essentially troll your customers.

And are there any other Planco words for random genera that aren’t used in Planet Zoo or Coaster? Besides, both of those uses are objectively less common than the baboon, let’s be honest here.

Agreed. I think these are the only two real possibilities here.

even then it it way too subtle to be a troll like we are only just now realising the dictionary exists and its not like the interesting ones are convenient to find.

I don't understand why they would add them to the dictionary within the past two months if they were scrapped species. Having a species name translated into the Planco dictionary seems like a very trivial end-of-development task, not something to prioritize by any means. Could be wrong though 😂

As I already mentioned the Post before the Lord Howe Stick insect also has its entry and we all know it never happened. Goodfellows Tree Kangaroo, Secretary Bird, Hamadryas Baboon, Echidna would all fit into the topic of one of the Last 5 DLC. These could be Just relicts of animal ideas which already got a planco Name and were Put into the Frontier dictionary but were skipped by any reason. In my opinion it is just pure speculation to read anything from the dictionary. It could mean Something more or not. But building up Pack ideas from that Just leads to wrong hopes and frustration. Thats why my advice to take these entrys very very careful.

I agree that it feels like it would most likely be an afterthought wrap-up tasks, but who knows, maybe they have biweekly Planco brain jams to translate any newly needed words and whatever’s ready at the time is ready. The presence of all the words in "Lord Howe Island stick insect" does seem to suggest a disconnect between the animal team and the language team.

That said, I don't actually see "Howe" in the current dictionary, just the archived version. And I still don't see Goodfellow period. Are those that see Goodfellow using a different language version of the site than US English, maybe?

I have found Howe and Lord within the current Version.

I hate to burst anyone's bubble but the UK English planco dictionary has removed all mentions of secretary, hamadryas, and Goodfellow 🤣

I'm not holding my breath with these, I'd rather get a Latin America Pack as the final DLC than these. I just think that it would be odd to turn a blind eye to these.

Honestly it would be better to Turn a blind eye onto these words. At least in my opinion. It will lead to false hopes and frustration. Either now as you can observe it already as people "kiss goodbye to SA animals" and so on or later when these animals will not come to the Game at the end. I take notice that there are some entrys showing some species which potentially could be relicts of skipped animal Plans within the Last few DLCs. Nothing more.
