DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

I'm noticing a theme here.

People from hot countries: summer sucks

Person from usually miserable, damp, cold, rainy, grey country: YAY SUMMER! All 5 days of it!
Mmm depends. I live in a coastal city. Most people here like the summer and we can go to the beach. I just don't like the heat, being sweaty and working when is hot.

It also gets very cold in the winter here but i just put more clothes on, turn up the heating and drink some hot bevareges and i then i sleep all covered by blankets and I'm in heaven 🥰

The seasons impact my Planet Zoo routine. For some reason I find it easier to see the screen well when it’s dark outside with lamps on inside.

Living in various parts of northern Europe - most southerly the Netherlands and most northerly subarctic northern Sweden - since the game came out, i much prefer playing in winter to summer and I dislike the long daylight hours of the summer months.

Yeah, same. I mean, I am not from north Europe, but I do not like playing PZ while its light outside, IDK why, prefer much more playing while it is dark

Well see, in winter if you're cold, put on a sweater, light the fireplace, drink coffee or hot chocolate or hot tea...
But if it's summer, you can be drenching your head in cold water and you still get hot...

That and also, since I work outside, I get burned real fast if I forget to protect myself. I had a 2nd degree burn on a cloudy summer beach day

I was thinking about the ungulates of India/South Asia range
Many have mentioned bovines such as guar, anoa and Banteng.
Antelopes such as blackbuck and nilgai.
I believe in it’s safe to say guar and blackbuck are in the top of their groups
Recently I started liking the anoa more, ive always wanted blackbucks and I’m willing to take nilgai as long as the blackbuck comes first.
As frontier throws curveballs at us giving us animal families yet a lesser requested over highly requested. Anyone think frontier has picked bovines and antelopes to be the curveballs?

Sorry pals, I just realised we probably are still without DLC news because I didn't post my typical meme:

A bit outdated, from the times we thought we were getting too much crocs and WE mammals...
Not so outdated since last pack had 3 carnivores two of them canids. At least we also got 2 birds and a monkey. I'm in a hate love relationship with the Américas pack lol

Anoa and banteng don't love in India i think. If the pack is all of South Asia (with Even more SEA Rep) then they are valid choices, but if it is an India pack (plus sri lanka) then i don't think they are even an option.

I much prefer gaur, blackbuck and nilgai though. I'm not a fan of the nilgai so i wouldn't mind if we get a Muntjac instead. But to me the iconic trío of indian ungulates (now that we already have the water Buffalo) are blackbuck, chital/sambar and nilgai/gaur.

Probably this has been discussed several times, but it's hard to keep track of all messages, so here it goes again. What if this pack isn't India or Asia but an Old World animal pack?
  1. Honey badger (Africa and Asia)
  2. Lion tailed macaque (Asia)
  3. Serval (Africa)
  4. Nile crocodile (Africa)
  5. Blackbuck (Asia)
  6. White stork (Europe, Africa and Asia)
  7. Elephant (Asia) or Alpine marmot (Europe)

I mean.. not my picks, but i would be ok with that. It would fit like a mirror to the Américas (aka new World) pack.

While the chat is about potential ungulates, my absolute top personal pick would be one of the chevrotains. They would add something unique - very small animals, able to be kept in walkthrough enclosures and in indoor displays such as tropical and nocturnal houses. They could also do with a similar animation to hippos; while they do swim, when they move around underwater, they do so by walking along the bottom of the pool or river. The South Asian species are, to my mind, the most beautiful of the entire chevrotain family.

In terms of exact species, I keep erring between the Indian spotted chevrotain, a fairly widespread species from India that is kept and bred in a fair number of Indian zoos...

...And the yellow-striped chevrotain, which lives only in Sri Lanka but until fairly recently was kept in big numbers in several of the zoos of Singapore.
