Ok, so after I minor goose chase I caught myself up to speed. The community page on their website had its source code updated early with these mentions:

I can live with getting the Asiatic Lion, if only because we'd finally get a good lion model, but the Sumatran Tiger and Sri Lankan Elephant are both pretty terrible choices in my opinion, we have two tigers and elephants already, and I know I've said this before, but there simply isn't enough variation between the subspecies to justify getting a third one of either.

Eh... as distinct as it is genetically, being perhaps the most basal living fox, it does look quite a lot like any other fox.
Raccoon dog is more unique in appearance
