DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

Sea Otter, Another Seal, Snow Goose And Hoary Marmot Could Work For Clones.
The sea otter would require a few new animations. It's possible, but behaviourly it's very different from river otters. That said they did a half-job on the sifaka, so who knows?

As for the rest I did mention the walrus - I know we just got two dogs but it doesn't seem likely we'd get two pinnipeds.

I’ll admit everything with Frontier doesn’t seem likely until it is, it’s really up in the air what they might do next. I also can’t blame anyone for looking at the consistency though.

I think a polar pack could happen, but I’m starting to wonder if Frontier is holding certain top animals back for a sequel. Like why didn’t we get a coati in this pack? Maybe they are saving it for later. They also didn’t give us a howler or spider monkey either. (We did get the ocelot which was higher on the meta wishlist)

So if we got a polar pack, I’m wondering if we wouldn’t get the walrus or musk ox.

Based on this Felidae chart from wikipedia, Planet Zoo currently has those marked in green. The ones marked in red could be future options to complete the pattern ( all big cats and 1 per genus of the others ). The serval is amongst those. I wonder if similar Family/Genus lists will have a similar pattern. ponders

To follow on from the Felidae chart I found, I created a Canidae chart and looked to see if there was a similar distribution of what animals were in game etc.
It wasn't quite the clear cut list like the Felidae chart but I marked the ones I thought may come in the future, based on current selection, with red dots but there are some there that feel like there should be more from the groups. Some of the vulpine foxes look visual enough to be worth adding to the game as well, but hard to decide which one I think would be next over the others.

Well if we do get another DLC, I highly think it won’t be an Island pack. I was floating around making a cute “Island Zoo” with only animals endemic to Islands. Well, look what we already have in game:
  1. American Flamingo (Caribbean and Galapagos)
  2. Galapagos tortoise
  3. Aldabra tortoise
  4. Tasmanian devil
  5. Quokka
  6. Kiwi
  7. Little Blue Penguin
  8. King penguin
  9. Fossa
  10. Ring tailed lemur (and the other three lemurs)
  11. Red crowned crane
  12. Japanese macaque
  13. You could probably even count the grey seal, and maybe the California sea lion
So I would be very shocked if we got an island DLC. The American Flamingo I thought was the last sign to think “it’s over for that idea”.
Did komodo dragon and some Indonesian animals count as Island ones?

So if the last and final pack will be Animal pack featuring seven animas, then plus one Anniversary animal, then altogether there'll be 210 species and subspecies in will be completed Planet Zoo?

im an idiot i want the tanuki but i voted for the raccon dog i think
The meta list counts them in the same slot. Personally I want the tanuki / Japanese raccoon dog specifically, but they're not different enough on the surface level that you can't substitute one for the other. Doesn't really matter which we get.

I guess that's a good finale number. Now we'd just have to wait and see what these final 8 species may be.
And if or shall there be no American black bear, whenever I'll be making stories and comics featuring zoos housing all Habitat animals, I'll have to include the unofficial Battle Pass' Habitat animals that aren't there (yet).
Beside black bear, there were spider monkey, sloth (possibly walkthrough exhibit like the current sloth?), chameleon and gecko.

Like why didn’t we get a coati in this pack?
I get that the coati is popular right now, but calling it a 'top animal' seems a bit hyperbolic. The coati isn't going to sell a sequel.

I just think they have very limited resources for PZ, both in terms of people and finances, and had to be extremely choosey about where they put those resources. The coati, unfortunately, just didn't make the cut. I wouldn't be surprised if it came down to a choice between a monkey and the coati - surely dealing with climbing is a headache for them.

the american flamingo isnt at all endemic to islands neither is the king penguin or the grey crowned crane.

I could see us getting the walrus and an Antarctic seal like the leopard seal since they are fairly different. Also if your looking for easy clones the emperor penguin sure is an easy clone that most people could name.

Maybe the final pack will feature air and sea while the rest were mostly land? That idea and theory is about flying birds (like parrots and birds of prey) and fish and other sea creatures.

If only there's at least one "official" hint at least hard enough to guess. Well, I said this because I was thinking of how long that takes to find out.

Prediction?

Blackbuck
Pere David deer
Muntjac or raccoon dog
Yak
Golden snub nosed monkey
Golden pheasant / Himalaya monal
Honey badger

Now... What i would like?

Blackbuck
Reeve's Muntjac
Painted stork / Damoiselle crane
Mandarín duck
Golden pheasant
Golden snub nosed monkey
Honey badger
The Asians I hope for (after American black bear being chosen and announced) are and will be these:
  • Blackbuck
  • Axis deer
  • Gaur
  • Banteng
  • False gharial
  • Yak
  • Golden snub-nosed monkey

Given The Fact We Have Gotten Two Of One Group In Every Pack Except Eurasia For The Last 6 Packs Suggests That 2 Pinnipeds Isn't That Unlikely.
