DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

So we all seem to agree on the term that Frontier will pop out more DLCs as long as they'll make money with it. But honestly: if we won't get flying birds I really think the number of DLCs that really make sense is limited. At least as long as we don't consider them to put together DLCs that contain more or less mostly niche animals.

Such DLCs would be in my oppinion:

1. Safari Pack or another African based DLC (Secretary Bird, Serval, African Croc, Kudu, Honey Badger and so on)

2. Amazon or Aboreal Animal Pack (Coati, NWM, Tamarin, Tamandua, Tree-Roo, Urson, Guereza and so on)

3. An Asian or Cold Climate/Temperate Pack (Cold Climate Otter, Muntjac, a ground bird, old world monkey, a duck, an Asian antelope...)

Besides those I could see something like an Endagered Species or Equatorial or Player's Favorites Animal Pack.

But honestly it's already tough for me as a total zoo addict to put together an interesting roster that fits the themes without choosing animals that are to much out of the focus of a "normal" consumers.

Especially if Frontier will stick to the "7-animals-per-DLC"-system. What do you guys think?

I laughed way too hard for no reason but it's Frontier Unlocked 😂
Unravelled seems much more appropriate
Don't forget they still have a double bundle which could be their June one ( Barnyard + Zookeeper ) , with November being the DLC we are getting this month and the next one that we might get to make it a double pack for console ( Americas + Unknown ) . And lines up with anniversary for Planet Zoo in general.
isnt barnyard and zookeeper coming in may? I may have been mistaken but they usually have a full month gap between them so thats why I suggested july because the last known bundle is coming in may the next will be about 2 months later in july.
I hope the german version will do as they did with the alpine goat, call it by the broadest term possible and just leave it at that and honestly it would be better for the englisch version aswell, just call it racoon dog and mention as a fanfact that they are known as tanukis in japan and win win
there is no way they are doing that simply because that would be the first animal above a species level they have to pick one.

And that’s why we’re gonna get sifaka 😂😜😂
Wow, this aged beautifully😂
And ya know what else it definitely needs? Some birds
And we've been getting more birds lately
DLC 18: Mountain/Highland
DLC 19: Latin America or wathever you want as long as it is focused on south/central america
Looking back, about half the animals in Zookeeper we're mountain dwellers...
And DLC 19 is primarily Latin America, so...

No clue. I never paid attention to the timing between them rofl. But once that one hits they will only be 1 DLC behind, so the next double pack ( assuming they have one ) could be more than a month away as it could arrive when the PCs next DLC arrive ( assuming we have one ). So, if, as you say, the next catch up DLC pack will be in May as their monthly double pack update cycle, the one after that may be Summer/Autumn to coincide with a possible Summer/Autumn DLC for PC.

Just for fun I've been thinking what I would like to see for a potential DLC20. I'm going to go with the Zookeepers as a reference in terms of what is do-able within their budget, and I'm frankly also going to go with the wiggle room that they used for both Arid and for Grassland in the definition of an animal that fits the pack. I'd stick to the current pattern of animal pack with 80/90 pieces of scenery, which I think is honestly the best of both worlds.

With that, I would like to see an Asian Animal Pack. All of the choices are what I would like to see and what I think is do-able within the budget; I'm not thinking about the greater community here. You don't need to agree with everything I say here, to each their own, it's not meant to spark a debate in any kind 😅

1. Père David's deer
2. Domestic Yak
3. Nilgai
4. Asian Palm Civet
5. Golden Pheasant
6. Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo.
7. Sea Otter
Asian Animal Pack is something I would love but with a completely different line-up. The animals I will give here are not exactly my top most wanted asian species (close though) otherwise it would be too monkey heavy and I know it's not possible with Frontier.

To represent a bit more East Asia
  • Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey (I know this one always creates debate but it is too beautiful for me to let it down).
  • Reeves's Muntjac (I like Père David's Deer too but I prefer Muntjac)
  • Japanese Raccoon Dog
To represent the Himalayan area
  • Tibetan Fox
To represent India
  • Blackbuck
  • Lion-Tailed Macaque (yeah, I dare to put a second monkey)
Finally to represent S-E Asia
  • Palawan Peacock-Pheasant OR Sulawesi Bear-Cuscus which is a good alternative too Tree Kangaroo that I consider more as part of Oceania than Asia.

With this line-up I think India could turn green on the representation map.

I had no idea that Tanuki are a separate species from a Raccoon Dog. Always assumed they were just a subspecies. You learn something new everyday around here. 😄

I think I still have a prefference for the Raccoon Dog, but I would not mind either of them. They look so similar that I could just pretend it is the other one just as I do with the Wild Water Buffalo.

I thought some still consider it a subspecies. It's debated from what I can see.

The next and supposed Last DLC could be "Community Wishlist" or something in this way

1. Secretary Bird
2. Coati
3. Black Howler
4. Honey Badger
5. Black buck
6. Tree Kangaroo
7. Musk Ox

But I think is very Likely Frontier makes another DLC of Africa with several clones, they love that continent lol

Safari Animal Pack

1. Masai Giraffe
2. Florest African Elephant
3. Grevy's Zebra
4. Greater Kudu
5. Serval
6. Honey Badger
7. Nile Crocodile

2. Florest African Elephant
Can he offer you a flower in these trying times?

So... The only theme that makes sense for.me to get both mara and coati (and possibly a third southamerican primate) is a "Children's Zoo" or "Discovery" pack with some pieces to build intersctive learning stations. My ideal roster for that would be something like:

Children's (Discovery) pack

1. Coati
2. Mara
3. Squirrel monkey
4. Helmeted guineafowl
5. A duck
6. Short beaked echidna
7. Reeve's Muntjac or Pudu or any small deer

Yeah idk what to expect next.

If i had to guess id say a safari pack, which could be really cool. But at this point i just expect frontier to skip over every single animal i want out of a theme, so the outcome will probably be super lame (imo) like croc, two antelope another giraffe or zebra, jackal, something noone asked for and like one animal i like that forces me to get the pack 😂

Id be happy with returning to africa in theory. There are still alot of animals i want from there, sadly for me the majority of those dont fall into the golden child categories of ungulates and carnivorans
Me too: honey badger, aardwolf, civet, bat eared fox, serval, gerenuk, kudu, eland, impala, nile croc, guineafowl, grey crowned crane, secretary, more monkeys... there are so many african animals that i would be happy with.

It was mentioned that the African Leopard will come with the "next bundle" after Oceania & Eurasia, so it sounds like it could be May, though no way to know till the next Unlocked.

The fact console overtakes PC in July means one rate has to change, and now we've passed the promised Season Pass deadline there's reason to think Console might be the one to change to a more relaxed schedule.
