DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

Just raises the question how they managed to conjure this new pack seemingly out of thin air in lightning speed.
I'd say with the smaller amount of scenery they had with Americas they probably had more budget (budget as in time as well) to also work on this pack? It's not the first time from the looks of it, JWE2 had two DLCs very close to each other as well so it's not impossible.

Probably they already knew ahead of time that there would be no JWE3 yet nor a PC2 DLC, and usually they have revenue from DLCs from multiple games during these months, which means they were already working on this one alongside Americas?

Look I'm sorry, but no it isn't. We disagree with each other all the time here. We all have things we dislike about the game and we're all vocal about them too. Everyone is allowed to voice their opinion and people do it here all the time. Especially when they're negative opinions, this thread and several other threads are full of those. By others, and by me.

But what you're doing is not just "disliking this one clone" anymore. You've been overly negative about every pack since Zookeepers, going on and on posting negative and frankly borderline irrationally negative feedback over and over again to almost everything. At that point you have to realize you're no longer a person who gives their opinion; instead you just became a buzzkill in a group of people who still enjoy this game. It becomes annoying and people don't like that. This isn't a new thing or something exclusive to this community; that's how it is everywhere in life.

If you're going to a sports bar and all you do there is complain about sports, people will kindly show you the door. You're not a victim in that situation, you deliberately put yourself there. If you're old enough to be here on the forums then you're old enough to take responsibility for your own actions and you're supposed to be able to say "hey, maybe this just isn't my thing anymore if I keep feeling so negative about this". That's something that is expected from you, not just here, but in the rest of your life. Have some agency over yourself please.

And no you shouldn't be a mindless consumer and frankly you should be vocal about your feedback because that's the only way to change things. We do that as a community and we've done it over and over again with good results. Other people have been able to do it in a constructive fashion, even when their criticism was fairly negative. That's different than being negative almost all of the time, especially over things that we don't even know are a thing yet.

Again, I'm sorry, I know I'm harsh here but man I hope you take this to heart and do some introspection here. Because the way you're going is just going to keep annoying people more and more to a point where nobody is going to want to spend time interacting with you. And that will be on you, it won't be on the community.
I just REALLY dislike a couple specific animals and I don't want to see them in the game, because they'd ruin the whole experience for me.
Seeing people wish for stuff that I openly dislike and don't ever want to see added makes me feel very negative, because it reminds me that, more likely than not, we'll probably get the Sumatran rhino or some dumb things like that. At this point the rhino is pretty much guaranteed with no way of avoiding it, and I'd frankly rather quit the game entirely than accept such a terrible choice being added.

Also, zookeeper and Americas were simply... bad. Other people have been "negative" about them and faced no backlash for that.
I don't see why I'm the only problem

Wild yaks are quite different from domestic yaks. As I previously shared pictures in the community—let me put it this way: the size difference between wild yaks and some domestic ones... is like that between tigers and leopards.

Exactly why I wouldn't want a wild yak... And I don't want the domestic either since we already have a small domestic bovine with long fur.
At that point I'd much rather get a Zebu

Yeah, but I guess that is because this year Easter was too very late? 🤔
It would be a first if they are showing us the official artwork but not doing the official announcement in the short term.
I was pretty confident in july being the release date so maybe they just gave us a teaser early because they didn't want us to miss the news since everyone but me was assuming october would be the release.
Yeah.
Im just wondering how we got from 6 months in between barnayard-zookeeper-americas to seemingly 2 months betweeen americas and this one.
Especially since, atleast in my opinion, with zookeeper and americas it feels like they were a little short on time with the six months (some animals not looking as good as in previous packs/missing stuff/wrong anatomy, basicly no free update, scenery being alot of copy/paste).

my best guess is console because we started getting the 6 month spacing around the time console porting began now that all the developers focused solely on porting console are free a regular pack schedule can continue.

Again, we don't know what the next pack will have, beside the lion tailed macaque and the honey badger. The rhino is not "guaranteed" and I am honest with you, I also would not like a rhino AGAIN, but this is no excuse for spreading so much negativity before the pack is even announced. If it is announced and the rhino is indeed there (which I frankly do not think at all), then you can vocal your opinion, nobody will stop you from that.

Honestly, I’m genuinely thrilled about the prospect of acquiring a wild yak—it’s an iconic species of China’s Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. That said, I do have concerns about whether the fur processing can achieve a realistic effect.

Regarding the view of "not wanting a similar animal," I understand that perspective to some extent. Personally, though, I believe Highland cattle and wild yaks are quite distinct. But that’s perfectly fine—I respect everyone’s right to express their opinions. I still vividly remember discussions about deer, takin, livestock, and so on. None of it was a big deal.

Besides, I don’t think this community has reached a point where "people get ostracized for sharing different views." Relax, man, just relax。

I don't know whos question it was, but there are shared exhibits of Lion-tailed Macaques, e.g. in Allwetterzoo Münster, Germany, where they share an exhibit with Orang-Utans and Small-clawed otters

I just love how some people have already convinced themselves so much not to get the pack because they “already know” that it’ll have animals they don’t like. WE KNOW 2 OF THE ANIMALS, there’s literally no evidence that the rhino, asiatic lion, or whatever is included in this pack so for god sakes just wait for the pack to be announced then complain about it.

I guess next thing we will know about the pack is directly the official announcement, isn't? No more hints or dev journal like the old days... And when do you think they announcement would be? In about two weeks?
I'm thinking we'll get an announcement trailer on the 10th or 17th, and releasing on the 17th/24th.

I get what you're saying here, and I think the bigger problem is that there's so few spots per roster DLC and at this point Frontier could drop support for this game at any point in time without warning so the amount of potential we have left is uncertain. If we went back to the Zoo Tycoon 1/2 days, I'd wager the attitudes surrounding DLC packs would be far milder.
Look at ZT2's Masai giraffe for example. People would hate to see it be added in PZ because it's taking up either a 1/4 or 1/7 of all slots. But in ZT2's it's being added alongside 19 other animals, so it's weight is only at 1/20. Sadly I think a recurring counter-argument is that people expect things sooner than ever before. I would say this is resolved with a roadmap and transparency to re-calibrate expectations.

Bro relax. The game is not made solely for you. There’s people that want different things than you that’s life. I really don’t think the Sumatran Rhino is coming but if it does so what? Why does it affect you so much. Just stop playing if you’re that repulsed

Then do that. Or are you waiting for someone to throw themselves at your feet and beg you to stay?

There have been a ton of choices made in this game I think are stupid, and I want a ton of things other people think are stupid. But I'm a grown-up so it doesn't matter. Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean anyone has to give a damn about it.

I've always wanted the Sumatran rhino, but you know what, I kind of want it even more now.

I think in 2 weeks is the soonest date. But considering its only been like 2 months since the Americas Pack, I would not be surprised if we had to wait for a little bit longer this time.
I thought that as well and I can still see that influencing it a bit, but at the same time Parkmanagers and Secrets Species were 2 months apart. So frankly, a June release date would fall in their 2-weeks after teasing pattern and they've done it before so I assume they know that it won't negatively impact sales of either?

Yeah.

Probably because it'll be a full on clone fest, even more than americas packs. Honey badger is looking fantastic though. Just by the cover srt it might be one of the best looking animals in the game... The detail on the fue textures...

This is a good opportunity for me to bring up a hypothetical. Between these 2 sole options, which would y'all prefer?
Option A:
  • Honey Badger
  • Lion-Tailed Macaque
  • Sri Lankan Elephant
  • Blackbuck
  • Nilgai
  • Fishing Cat
  • Mugger Crocodile
  • No more than 60 new building pieces
  • No update that makes the existing Indian theme flexicolour
Option B:
  • Honey Badger
  • Lion-Tailed Macaque
  • Sri Lankan Elephant
  • Asiatic Lion
  • Indian Leopard
  • Himalayan Black Bear
  • Indian Wolf
  • 5 Exhibit Animals of your choosing
  • Update that makes the existing Indian theme flexicolour
