Actually, the forum reading is quite funny for me.
ED is probably the only computer game in the known Universe for which the reading forum is a lot more fun that the game in current state itself. :)

That has been said before. The passion for the game keeps us here. Either playing, wanting to play, or just looking at the forums we still have hope that FD will deliver all that we've been waiting for.

The grind needs to make sense, and for the most part FD is trying to accomplish that aspect. Not aimless wondering around waiting for the RNG to go your way, that's called psychotic. Needs to make sense why we are there, and what we are looking for has meaning for being there. Unlike the magical appearing NPCs that gank you at every turn FD seems to be making progress in one aspect of gameplay. I'd like to find one of those cloaking devices that allow those NPCs to you interdict without showing up on the radar until just that last second before the gank. It's amazing how NPCs show up on the other side of the system, but the magical ganking ones appear out of no where.

No, I don't like that, which is why I like elite so much. Lots of diffrent stuff to do, I never do one thing for a long time with the expection of Exploring. And even there, you never know what you will find in the next system, the "just one more jump" syndrom is strong. Always wanna know whats ahed.

Well, if I want to do "just one more jump" because I want to know what is ahead, I would become a kangaroo instead to pay lifetime pass to game which looked promising two or one year ago :(

I hate grind , but for me elite is not a grind and I dont grind in elite.
Yet I am rich and have fun

That seems to be the only time you can have fun in this game .. is if you ground yourself to a pulp and now have billions to outfit as many ships as you please and do whatever you want without care.

Na, I disagree. I am not rich by any stretch of the imagination and I enjoy my in game time. I think grinding for the huge credit balance is what causes the negative feelings. The positive feeling of having all that coin, can never make up for the negative feeling suffered during that grind. I'm a happy Commander because I willfully avoided the grind for a 'Conda.

Like the way you post on the forums?

Not sure why u are on his case? There are many people with the same feedback. If there are repetitions it is because we have not been communicated to by fdev. Even kornelius from YouTube has weighed in the negativity of the RNG grind. These are forums for feedback, and what the poster is trying to do is, get people talking in hopes there maybe some communication / progress to either side.

Yeah like how the moderators like to watch me like a hawk for any single infraction you can pin to me? Oopps I may get banned for getting insulted by a moderator and stating a known fact in return ! Thats ok hasn't stopped me before.

I bring up valid points and I'm FARMING the rep for it. I must be saying something right for so many people to be repping me. It must be said. It must be heard. So far it hasn't been.
have a rep for speaking for players like me.

Sorry, but can't vote.

"Doing repeated activities for very long periods of time without any different results - only for minimal gain."

For me you would have to add "... without gaining enjoyment from the activity". Because if i'm enjoying the repetitive task, then its no problem. Although generally, i avoid the grind in the first place by mixing things up. So, while over the long term i might be doing something repetitive, i'm breaking it up with other things.

Or, better still, I can "grind" for stuff with a nice mechanic. For example, "grinding" for military rank isn't so repetitive. Take different missions. Progress is slow, but at least can mix things up between trade missions, combat missions, mining missions, etc.

Grinding is doing repetitive actions such as a grinding wheel for very long periods of time with only minimal gain. If you enjoy the long periods of repetition and you enjoy the small gains then vote yes. By all means. Some people enjoy it.

Do you enjoy the grind?

My definition of grinding fun is this: Doing repeated activities for very long periods of time without any different results - only for minimal gain. to do it again because it was great

I've edited your question to make it appear a little more balanced

Flying a space ship all the time is grinding.

This is grinding

Doing the same thing .. grinding.. over and over. For hours, days weeks. The same thing. No different. The same.

I think we know where you stand on the issue and I have some issues as well with the mechanics but do we really need another thread on it. Is it possible to have one megathread like the AI one, so we can trash it out in the one place.

I feel no matter how hard you attempt to define grinding, people will insist on redefining it rather than even accept there is a problem, or answer the poll honestly. Denial is always the hardest stage for people to pass, especially when they have invested so much time in this Sisyphean task. Also I agree this is an important issue, and no amount of hateful snark on the part of your detractors will change this.. +rep for bringing up the issue :) No doubt then next post will be another attempt to misconstrue what you mean, oh look ...
