DO NOT SHOOT THE THARGOIDS. YET!

Im going to copy and paste.

After much thought:

We are being used. Mercilessly. Canonn are almost solely responsible for this:

1. The observed structures are damaged.
2. The damage is being repaired incessantly by automated drones.
3. The Thargoid ships encountered are non hostile.
4. The Drones are only temporarily hostile.

This points to the Thargoids being extremely resource wary. Anything that can cost resources is intolerable.

My hypothesis:

The Mycoid virus almost destroyed the Thargoid, and is still present within their biotech. However, this remains threat No: 1 for the Thargoid. In essence, they have simply learned to live with it. Using a workforce of drones, that costs them dearly, they repair their structures on the fly, purifying the materials. These materials are then dumped within chambers and show up as Unknown technology, biomatter or somesuch.

It is unknown whether these have any further use.

What is clear though, is that they are a damaged species. For some reason they have come to the Pleiades. I would hazard the following:

1. The Pleiades nebula is suitable for them. It could be the amount of ammonia worlds, or the nebula gas neutralises the Mycoid virus somewhat.
2. They have continuously used human communication forms to further their aims. Meaning that it is better for us to do the work for them. We spread their technology about and they learn of our capabilities.
3. It is painfully obvious - THAT THEY WOULD NOT DO THIS UNLESS THEY HAD TO. SOMETHING HAS FORCED THEM OUT FROM THEIR COMFORT ZONE!. The question is what?
4. They are unprepared. One does not EVER! build an army on the neighbours doorstep.

Thoughts please

I want all commander to pay attention to something. Its obvious the settlements are ships. Just look at the amount of eggs stuck to the ceiling. I think what we are doing is basically waking the crew up.

I want you ALL to understand something very clearly. What can scare a three kilometre wide ship?

Sure, we can shoot what is equilivant to what is a 3km senile granddad. But why is granddad legging it? What's got up his pants?

Well, Scavenging means finding something useful from junk. If you had the option of chopping off an arm because of an infection, wouldn't it be nice to keep the fingers for later? I think that's what they are basically doing. Delaying the inevitable.

Are they damaged [old] structures, or new structures still being built by drones to usher in the invasion?

Asking players looking for a challenge NOT to shoot at Thargoids is like telling North Korea if they quit shooting missiles we'll give them all the ice cream they want! Hopefully per the April 1995 release of Frontier: First Encounters there will be avenues of co-existence and even a sharing of technology for the greater good. Meanwhile they could defeat all our best engineered ships. In the past NO one defeats a Thargoid missile! We'll see.

Cant wait for the Goids to come in guns blazing and put an end to all these theories :D.

Me too, though I should probably relocate my base to a jump away. They seem to really dislike the Federation and my current base flip-flops between independant and Federation. They seem content to leave us Imperials well enough alone. :)

Our weapons are, apparently, useless against Thargoid tech anyway. To shoot them, and matter, we have to specifically fit bug-swatters to our ships. Bug-swatters that don't exist yet.

So... smoke 'em if you got 'em

Yep you're right....Maybe we should write a "Thargoids are pro slavery" theory!!

Until they shoot back. Then the complaining begins.

Not likely. I enjoyed the harder NPCs. I do full well expect to see this place erupt with people complaining however. But the people I fly with, we welcome a worthy rebuy...

"ALWIENS TO HARD. PLZ NERF FDEV"
"FDEV, I COULDN'T COMBAT LOG FAST ENOUGH AGAINST THE THARGOIDS, GIVE ME MY SHIP BACK"
"FDEV I'M QUTTING BECAUSE GAME IS TO HARD"

List goes on. OH I HAD A BRILLIANT IDEA

WHO WANTS TO MAKE BINGO SHEET WITH ME!???!

But my popcorn is on stand by to enjoy the show once people start getting exploded.

But you know what they say
Death is an experience best shared...

I will say something else instead. Especially tho ones whom "smart" enough to poke the newfound mother ships activating em.

"That is not dead which can eternal lie.'
And with strange aeons even death may die"
- H.P lovecraft.

So for heaven's sake! Do not wake up the sleeping devil! You will not live to regret it.

I have the feeling every time someone activating a new found ship either activating that ship or contributing to a secret global counter. (i guess it's the latest) And more we wake up, out of curiosity, the bigger problem we going to have.

OP makes the assumption that the scavengers are building the ship. They've got it the wrong way around.

If you look closely, you see the scavengers are taking something AWAY from the metallic structure's surface and then dumping the liquid elsewhere.

It isn't being built up. It's being stripped down.

My procedure is to not fire first. I want it on record as to who started it.
It'll be in the black box left over from my totally destroyed ship.

Of course, if they DO fire first, after the re-buy happens, all bets are off.

Or... be more precise? The broken outer parts cannibalized and used up as "food" to regrow the biological ships, after thankfully the barnacles find the cure to the myconid disease.
Do not shoot the drones?
Massacare em!

Because when the Thargoid fleet wakes up? They will be everything just not friendly.
They will wake up anyway, but how fast this happens how much time we have to prepare? Does matter.
