Does anyone actually enjoy driving on the planets?

No. I can't say I enjoy it. The srv is way too unstable. In 2016 we have things like stability and traction control but they don't exist in the future? Also, who's bright idea was it to not allow my ship to refuel the srv when it docks?

You can use materials to turn into fuel, you can also fix your srv with them too, not sure which ones without logging on but it's in you synthesis tab.
hope that's useful

How is that a good feature? You have to use the SRV to find resources to be able to use the SRV.

Only when outside of the bubble, you can refuel the SRV for free when docked at a station. The SRV has pretty good milage when used economically with non essential stuff shut down, very good milage when using high grade synthesis. It's impossible to not find fuel on planets, the devs caved in and put it everywhere.

To answer the Op, absolutely love the SRV in VR, have come across countless jaw dropping scenes, eventually gave up book marking interesting places to visit.

I really like driving the SRV. I find it really relaxing to set down and dismiss my ship and explore. I with there was some SRV battles in Arena.

I'm sure it's amazing with VR. I'm using a TrackIR so it's still fun to look around.

I imagine not having a free view motion like that would be a little dull.

I really enjoy driving and flying about in the SRV, floaty low G worlds means lots of air time whilst +1 G gives predictable grip and mass effects. The guns are a bit puny though ! Would also prefer a crane for loading the cargo. The views are often great as well depending on the lighting/colours. Roll on more SRV types, I hope that we have barely scratched the surface with this gameplay !

It may make a bit more sense if/when we can walk around too, has anyone ever seen a door in The SRV BTW?

It makes a welcome break from sitting in the seat of a ship even if it's for a moment.

I hated it for a long time, but the need for materials sent me crawling back into my SRV. I read randomly that it was better with drive-assist off, and wow, revelation.
It's still not my favourite activity, but at least I can get away from the nightmare control scheme they dreamed up.

I enjoy it, but only when I'm not looking for something. If I'm just down there to drive around, it's great.

Whoever designed the wave scanner should be beaten silly.

But if I dock the srv it repairs itself. Same should go for refueling. It's another one of those game design decisions that boggles the mind.

To anyone who doesn't like driving their SRV, use Drive Assist OFF.

And it case no one heard the first time,

Drive Assist OFF

Drive assist on feels terrible, it's like a fized wheel bike. Having it off makes it drive like a normal car, much easier, and much more fun.

Agree, the SRV is fine with FA off!

If you're having problems with spinning on very low G worlds you're doing it wrong... you should be flying your SRV, not driving! ;)

DAO, 4 pips to thrusters and bounce across the terrain.
