Well, I'm definately in a minority here because I love the engineering part of the game. Folks hate the grind but I don't find that much different to anything else in the game if you want to max out with something. Well, perhaps mining, something I would avoid at all costs if possible!
If there is anything I would change it would be the material traders (better known as rip off merchants!!). But they can keep their existing "prices" for me but I would enable the sale of all materials to them (or a similar trader). A sort of Void Opal financial gain for the collectors of especially G5 materials. That is the only thing I miss. Pretty much everything in ED has a monetary financial gain somewhere, whether trading, exploring, combat, PP etc. so why not engineering?
Engineering is just like anything else, once you get used to it then it becomes relatively easy to find most things, especially using third party sites such as Inara for example but that is just my own humble opinion of course and I conceed we are all different but at my age it just doesn't seem the grind that many are making it out to be.
