'Elite Delta' ?
Delta would signify '4' (Greek numeral).
Also the progression of development has roughly been Alpha, Beta, Gamma and then full release (which would correspond with Delta).
The triangle which is another pictorial view of the number 4 in Greek could have been used as a border of sorts to encompass the wording/design of the title and shield logo.
And....a triangle is sort of a nod back to the earliest (simpler) designs of some ships in the previous classic games, and 'Delta' sounds 'fast' or 'speedy'. A hollow triangle is also a players view in the radar as another 'commander'?....so that's another 'link' to the actual game play.
.
Anyhow, take all this with a pinch of salt, because I woke up too early this morning, and to pass the time before 'sleepiness' kicked in again, I browsed the forum and came across this topic.
I can't see a name change for Elite Dangerous anytime soon if ever now though, I think the die's been cast, so 'Elite Dangerous' it's going to stay, at least until the Planet Expansion!

Goodnight all....I'm going back to bed! zzzzzzzzz

I think it depends on how dangerous the landings are and at present I don't see any atmospheric shielding so good luck.
Elite: Delta, I would say no Delta harks back to those cheesy Chuck Norris Delta Force movies where he wipes out a battalion of troops with a six shooter then if ya lucky reloads the gun.
