Does anyone ever take the commodity rewards for missions?

Can't see the point of it to be honest. You can sell them for maybe a bit more than if you take the cash alone, and that's after finding a suitable market. Doesn't seem worth the effort. Maybe I'm missing something?

Only for unlocks. Some commoditys can only be found via mission board. I THINK !!

Edit: maybe that was only some materials ?

Biotech Conductors used for some engineering are only available as mission rewards, although if you like horrible 1:6 trade ratios you can of course trade other mats to get them.

Might as well change the Quent requirement to some other junk, and get rid of the commodity mission rewards.

Only if the cargo is required for one of my source missions. I do take the material rewards quite often, the high paying cargo missions (7mill+) Often give out rare materials

I take the mats quite often too. Grade 5 mats, what's not to like. As for AJG above. I saw a passenger mission this morning offering 30 Articulation Motors as a reward.

Exception use case reasons only, but 2 current mandatory reasons to take commodity rewards are:

1. Guardian tech unlocks - can only get some of the required items needed via mission commodity rewards - e.g. FSD booster and insulating fabric (? forgot exact name, insulating membranes? Not in game, something like that)

2. Engineer unlocks

The only time I've ever deviated from selecting money is when a pile of engineering materials are offered that I'm looking for. Otherwise, I love taking cash.

I especially "like" the biowaste alternative rewards...

"Commander, would you like 2 million credits or 1.9 million credits with 25 tons of biowaste with compliments of the company?"

The biowaste option is actually more valuable.

Yes, when it is required for some kind of unlock, and you can't get them in litterally any other way.

However, I don't think that should be a thing!

They made it a lot less bad, by making them give out more than 4 each mission though, so you dont end up stuck in a big ship collecting hundreds of tonnes of junk to unlock stuff, unable to swap ship to have fun in a little fighter until you offload the doohickeys to the right collector.

I do mostly now, but I've played a lot and have been in the billions cash on hand club for some time. How much cash on hand would it take for you to make that choice?
