Does anyone here get decent performance from a single gtx 970? - Tips on system needed!

Just a single tip from me to those who suffer from dips in fps when playing at SSx1.5 on a GTX970: Raise your card's power limit with Afterburner to 120 (or even better 140 if you're willing to reflash your card's bios). This made so much difference for me, and is safe to do.

Running Afterburner before doing this and enabling the graph for "GPU power limit" and then running ED, you can see when it is necessary. When this graph hits 1, your card and performance is being throttled back and will benefit from raising the limit.

Yeah but is his heat sink n fan, cause if he is using a standard one he will cook his chip.

a 2600K should do 4.0 ghz on all four cores comfortably with the box heat sink and fan (assuming it's been dusted once in the last year :)). And 4.2 ghz is achievable if you manually set the voltage as low as you can. Next step is a $30-40 cooler that unlocks 4.5-4.8ghz...

Yep the 2600K is a beast, I have one in my second rig. it runs at 4.0 on air without breaking a sweat.
