Does anyone with access to a cutter use a Type 9?

That taboo that the type is slow and does not work for me is the opposite, almost 2400 hull, 313m/s with boost, 26ly unloaded and 16ly loaded.

I wonder where this type of thread would go if the Panther Clipper was released

Yep, all the time.
T9 is my Carrier fueler, passenger evac-r, and often a cargo runner.
Cutter is outfitted pretty much just for laser mining.

I like both, but even though I'm proud of achieving the cutter, my T9 is more enjoyable to fly. Maybe it's because I named the T9 "Bon Chonker" lol

I have both and generally prefer how the T9 handles in and out of port. Everytime i try to lift off with the cutter i have to do a double take and check thst my joystick is actually working. T9 has vertical thrusters that work. If im taking source and return missions that spawn tons of anaconda pursuers i use the cutter and kill them all. For general cargo missions T9 is the preferred beast. Of course i tanked mine up so its pretty durable in its own right.

The best time to fly a T-9 is right after spending some time in a Cutter, it makes the T-9 feel nimble & responsive ;)

Aside from lower rebuy, and maybe 30 or so tons of extra cargo when sensibly outfitted, I can't think of another really good reason to ever use a T-9 over a cutter if you have access and the cash to buy and outfit one.
Cutter is faster, has a bit more jump range, can survive most gank attempts unless you muck it up, or run up against a well organized and executed wing gank. Plus, you can actually fight back against NPC pirates if you want, and jump away if it does not go your way..

I have a cutter which I barely use because I generally use a python for trade. Every t9 I have ever owned I have sold. It's just me but I can't survive any sort of NPC aggression in a t9. It refuses to respond to the way I fly and I refuse to change the way I fly to bother with it.

Yes. My Cutter actually carries slightly less than the T9, because I've done it out as my safer bulk transport, with actual defence and the like. My T9 has a far cheaper rebuy and transfer rates, and is the el-cheapo hauling option.

I abandoned the T9 completely until they gave it the extra C8(IIRC) slot.

I like to use specific types of ships for specific roles so my Cutter is now my "armed trader" and my T9 is my "bulk hauler".

I've deliberately "nerfed" my Cutter (sort of) by fitting it with MRPs and HRPs so it's cargo capacity is around 512t but I can fly that to CGs in Open, get there safely and maybe even give the outlaws a bit of a fright in the process.
My T9, on the other hand, is a bare-bones hauler, with a shield, an ADC and space for 756t of cargo.

I like flying both, depending on what mood I'm in.
I use the Cutter for CGs and PP stuff, in Open, and I use the T9 for when I feel like playing "Space Truck Simulator 3306"

The cutter is high class, it's what everyone thinks they want in a hauler, before they know what they want in hauler.
It's the kind of ship you take home and introduce to your mother.

The T-9 is for the commander that prefers functionality to form, it gets the job done.
It's the sort of ship you meet for a drink with your mates and it doesn't wear any knickers.

I may love them both, but the T-9 is special.

Not used a T9 yet but I have 3 cutters, one for mining, one defenceless shieldless hauler and one I toyed with using for evac missions but haven't got around to yet.

Might as well stick one together and see what the fuss is about :D

I'll pick the Type 9 over the Cutter any day. While I appreciate the Cutters speed and nigh indestructibility, I can't abide the tectonic turning speed and price tag. Why pay billions to make the Cutter workable when I can spend a mere fraction to make the Type 9 just as efficient? And on an aesthetic level I enjoy the simplicity and industrial look and feel of the Type 9. It feels like it's the size of the international space station because it is. The Cutter feels a bit too magical. Nothing against those who prefer the Cutter, that's just my preference.

Just thinking that the Type-9 and cutter overlap somewhat as being joint kings of cargo capacity, within a handful of tonnes capacity of each other, and both ships have woefully weak spots, but their weaknesses are different from each other. For example, the cutter is fast, like silly fast given its turning rates, but it has the turning circle of a coriolis starport, but is much better in supercruise than a Type-9. However the Type-9 for all its lethargy, is actually a pretty faithful stead and goes (slowly, very very slowly) where you point it. Similarly the cutter has a canopy / windscreen that is akin to a letter box, whereas the Type-9 has the whole Lakon greenhouse canopy offering much better visibility than the cutter. But the cutters cockpit is more opulently appointed whereas the Type-9 is very much a girders and deck plates industrial affair. And so on and so forth, so I was wondering did anyone prefer the Lakon offering over the Gutamaya offering?

Yes. As a Tritium store during FC jumps. Just cargo racks for max tritium storage.
I have two Cutters... A a trucker and a mining build.

The cockpit of the Cutter is so light and shiny that it really interferes with reading the displays at times.

I have and use both, which will get used depends where I am and which of them is nearest, I won't need to pick a favourite until after I can be bothered to get an FC.

Have 1 of each, the t-9 is purely for filling the fc tank and the cutter is just for the pp module grind once a month other than that I don't really enjoy flying them, much prefer smalls and occasionally mediums

I only have one T9 and it just sits on my carrier. It’s set up to do short trips in the same system with max cargo. Haven’t actually used it yet.
