Does your joy stick slide around on your desk? ... (read this)

I have the Saitek X52 Pro with the little rubber suction cups on the bottom. They usually stay in place, but sometimes, usually at the worse possible time, they can come loose, and the results can be devastating.

After almost dying from a joystick malfunction during a routine interdiction, I remembered a little trick that used to use on faulty suction cups as a kid. If you wipe the underside of the suction cups with a damp cloth, then this will keep air from leaking in and will keep your joystick and throttle firmly in place. It's just a little thing really, but it might mean the difference between victory and a rebuy screen.

Hope this helps!!

I prefer licking them, it's all about feel and being one with the machine.

I don't use the suction cups. They raise the height too much and make both the stick and throttle less stable.

No problems with the default pads. Desk is kept clean. Pads are fluff and dirt free and I don't get over excited.

Pushing stick or throttle harder doesn't improve ship performance - learn to relax ;)

OMG! I didn't even realise there were rubber nubs/pad things! What an idiot. I took of the suction cups -It's so much better!
I'm not sure I can relax though - I'm off for some pre -flight meditation.

I won't ask for wet wipes in ship outfitting now.

And someone please do a poll on Pads vs Suction Cups!

I have the X52 and to the right (and diagonally) of the Power light are these things...
You may, I don't know, have these on the 'Pro'!

You put screws in them....
Sorted!

You can either screw them to your desk or buy industrial strength Velcro, this needs 24 hours to set though.

My wife sorted my X-52. She bought some heavy duty adhesive Velcro strips, stuck the fluffy part on my desk, bristly part on the bottom of the throttle and stick and bingo.. When I put them in place they are firm and steady and can remove them when not playing. It's perfect!

My Thrustmaster 16000M doesn't need suction cups, or Velcro™, or even Olympic wrestlers (or Imperial slaves). It just weighs a ton!

For my CH setup, I use that rubber anti-slip sheet you can get for kitchens, for putting under cutting boards.

I put screws through the holes on my X52 & throttle... but I didn't want to put holes in my desk so I made up a big piece of timber with routed edges, all nicely varnished etc to screw my joystick down to and with room for my keyboard...

Then I screwed the whole thing to my desk and completely negated the whole purpose of the timber. Oh well, still looks nice and NOTHING moves EVER.

Like one of the posters above, I have a HOTAS Warthog. The thing is so heavy that it's impossible to move it during normal gameplay.

I have a warthog, I employ a team of Olympic weightlifters to move it to one side when I log off for the night :D

I too use the "Hog" and to keep mine from slipping, i drove 16 penny nails through the top and into my desk. Half the buttons and toggle switches no longer work, but that sucker is rock soild!
