When you move to a large pad ship, it's easy to go from station to station and ignore outposts. There are a lot of good things happening at outposts you can easily miss if you avoid them. An example would be that I was simply upgrading my carrier, and the system where I was upgrading asked for some low level pirate assassination missions in another system that only had outposts. So I took a couple and decided to run them in my FdL. While in that system, I wanted to see what they had going on, so I stopped in. All factions except that bottom dwelling bad guy faction had stackable bulk pirate kill missions. I've run these for 3 days. While doing so I checked the outpost in the system where the pirates were based. They had the same in the system I was getting the stacked missions, so I just swung back and forth between systems. When I had all my missions from one system, I'd go to turn them in, then I'd grab more and before heading back, I'd complete the pirate missions in that system.
Basically I would have missed this opportunity if I just ignored the outposts and went along my way to hunt for better credit farming. Just saying, don't forget these outposts and planetary sites exist.
