Dove Enigma UA bombed, preventing completion of its voyage in time for the man it was named for.

That make you kind of a bad person, doesn't it?

No it makes him human, and it's extremely hypocritical to take the stance that, on one hand, "crap happens" when explaining away the UA bombing, but when the victim happens to respond in kind, they're suddenly a bad person. Im all for player murder and general ganking, but the only people coming across as giant twits are you lot who take the convenient moral high ground when it presents itself as a suitable conversational weapon to bludgeon others with.

Yes. Told me to drink bleach when I replied (civilly) to him on reddit.

In his defence, he did tell you to go and do it in a polite way. That's rather in keeping with your own attitude is it not?

If FDev cannot remove the UA Bomb, then we all must come together to assist in repairing the vessel! Those who can, gather MA and fly out to the Dove Enigma. Those unable to get there can assist by farming and delivering MA to pilots who are able to get out there. This goes for players on all devices, PC and Consoles.

OP: cannot handle multiplayer games. Thinks he is playing a solo game that revolves around him, and all contradictions are a bug that needs FD's intervention.

xCrescentMagex: sees a situation arise, rallies players to deal with it.

Congratulations Mr. Mage of the sort-of-semi-circle variety, you win today's Emergent Content award! More award giving to resume tomorrow.

The strength of goodwill from the rest of the community, through their delivery of meta alloys to undo the UA bombing, will be the greatest victory over this attempt at creating adversity.

Courage, CMDRs.

This is a little different. We have someone dying of cancer here who made a request to be remembered in the game. The station that was UA Bombed is that memorial, and the person who made the request is fortunately still with us. Sad they had to see this on top of everything else they are obviously dealing with.

Sometimes Perma-Banning proven sociopaths is the right action to take. If the person responsible for this has a history of this kind of stuff, then I urge frontier to do the right thing and permanently ban them from the game.

Crossing a line like this is beyond the pale and requires severe punitive action.

Well, the positive take on this is that this UA bomber has triggered awareness to and in all of us not only about what this site means to us but also to maintain vigilance with a strong Proactive protection.
Is there any galnet communication generated revealing when UA bombing has been initiated? If so... this obviously wont happen again.

Maybe, FD could code some form of GLOBAL alert when UA bombing or anything of that level of threat has been inititaled so that the community can act ...Proactively moving fwd

TIL that suggesting someone kill themselves is a rational response to a civil comment on the internet.

Intent > Civility. Go edit Wikipedia on any politically charged topic for any length of time and marvel at the ways in which humans can be utterly horrible to each other without ever being incivil.

And for the record, I feel that response is completely justified. TIL people pretend as if civility forgives a complete lack of empathy and good faith.

You're mistaking me for someone else. But, could you explain how UA bombing is the same as telling someone to kill themselves?

When someone is dying of cancer, I say let them say whatever they want. You can’t imagine the suffering he’s going through. I’ve seen it happen to family members.

Nah, just because you have cancer doesn't excuse you from acting like an idiot.

Fine, noted, I've moved on to the part of contacting people outside of this game to shine a light on all this.

Hey,

I just wanted to step in and leave a quick post.

I understand that players are upset by the actions that have been taken. It's important to know that we are also upset and do not condone the actions of people trying to tarnish a fantastic and worthwhile community event. However, I would also say that calling out members of the community team as not being bothered is also very unfair.

Paige was the person that took the concept and worked with development to try and support a fantastic community initiative. She is equally as invested in the success of this voyage as the hundreds of Commanders taking part.

I understand that emotions can run high when actions are taken in such a way. But please do understand that this and the many other memorials that exist throughout the galaxy are a way of Frontier and the team celebrating and supporting the community to give them a permanent in game reminder of their loved ones. We are very pleased to be able to add these memorials in game as we feel this small service is of great value and comfort to those who have lost friends or family.

I think that by trying to shine a light on this issue, you are misunderstanding the level of thought and consideration that goes into making memorials like this possible and the care that the whole team have for our community.

On this specific issue, as many people have mentioned, if the shut down has happened because a player has used legitimate game mechanic then we would be looking (and supporting) Commanders using in-game mechanics to reverse this.

We are currently investigating to ensure that this was indeed done through legitimate in game means and not an exploit as well as other comments made from the Community. We will let you know once we have finished investigating the issue. In the meantime, could I ask that we remain considered in our responses and please refrain from directly targeting any member of staff for a game related decision.

Many thanks,

Zac

Hey man, take a minute and calm down.

I stopped reading here.

Don't tell me what to do!

The Drink Bleach comment is a figure of speech. One that is likely lost on those under 40, but that was Dove E's point.

Silly you and all the others who took that literally. It simply means.... Sod off! You don't get it, go away!

My remark about choosing something even more toxic was to simply put double underlines under the actual intent.

Hope that clears things up for you?

I don't know what to think now... Except I won't be helping. Won't be hindering either.

Just not getting involved at all.

Dove lost me when he told someone to kill themselves.

Don't care if you have cancer. Nobody has the right to say such a thing to anyone.

He's taken it too far.
