General Dual Supercruise Assist and Advanced Docking Computer

New Optional Internal module, a 2E Pilot Assistance Computer, effectively comprised of an Advanced Docking Computer and Supercruise Assist module put into one. It allows pilots to get both functionalities in a single slot, fully utilising that slot.
Nobody's explained.
When these were brought in, we were also given extra slots on ships to cover these.
Limited slots on ships is a gameplay feature making you choose.

Why have to choose things that should come standard on all ships ?
Because if every bit of automation that can be imagined was included in the ships thee would be almost nothing to do in the game.
Even if we ignore the issues of automating everything the fact that we cannot build a ship that can do everything means that we have the fun of working out the how to build our ships for what we want to do, it is part of what raises the game above a mere arcade shooter.

Automating the system jump, to follow a route, takes nothing away from the game,
except the Babysitter Time sink of FDL.
Currently You still have to stop to do anything else, I would still keep my eye on the screen.
But would like to use that time, getting INFO that is not in the game, OR anything else.
Just cut that chain, that makes me have to do the Jump-De-Jump Loop, over and over and over and.......o..v..e..r........

Supercruise assist, docking etc should all be stand part of the ship, every ship. One computer should be abdle to do it all. Or ask a Musk decendant in 3307 to create this.

Supercruise assist should be able to fly at a curve too.

Planetary approach is, so why is this even losted under optional internal?

And where is the on off toggle key for SCA ?
Why have to open a panel to use it ?
Just give us a key or put a button on the HUD.
Is this too hard for the DEVS to do ? If so, there is no hope.

It might sound harsh, but the docking computer is a simple luxury any CMDR can do without. I don't even have trouble landing a Beluga or T10 these days. Yeah, you get the occasional spoiler stuck in the cage but toggling landing gear gets you right out. You can save a module slot by simply not equipping an assist.

Imo what we REALLY need are integral fuel scoops. Ships should come with a fuel scoop that is equal in class, or one class lower, than the class of the fuel tank. Upgrading the fuel scoop would cost the same as fuel scoops do now, but they shouldn't take up space and the class should be capped depending on the size of the ship. 5 for small, 6 for medium and 8 for large.

Fact is ALL modules above what comes with a stock ship, can be called Luxury items.
But I see modules as a way to bring efficient time saving tools to players.
Only problem is the Time Fee they make you pay, before you can get the upgrades.
If they gave us the option to just pay for a upgraded module or mats, we would still have to grind for the credits.
But it would allow us to escape a lot of the mind numbing loops, or do the grind as we choose.
Because the real Balance is between those who have plenty of time to play, and those who do not.

The additional modules can't be removed now, because somewhere out there an explorer will desperately need one of the modules inside.
Does no one ever think of the explorers?

You can't simply remove those slots, we need them for a thermal resistant 1D HRP to balance out the reactive armor a DSS.

I'm finding both insufficient. Advanced Docking Computer can crash my ship often enough for me to not let it work without supervision, supercruise assist is the same thing- without supervision I would end up "crashing" into planets, moons and stars (but in this case my ship is fine, autodocking computer can actually kill my ship).
I like to have both installed on my non-explorer ships due to ED ship control method which I dislike a lot, I had to spend A LOT of time to get used to that dot and indirect ship control method, which is why I find those two modules enjoyable.

Each time I get back to ED from other space sims that utilize more traditional approach I find ship control method here weird, not practical, unsuitable for combat (dot and mouse). I suppose whole idea behind it is to make console users to be able to play ED too (which is good) but all PC users like me who got used to different interface (lots of shortcuts, ability to type quantities with keyboard, direct control over ship) have to suffer and "fight" with the interface for long time before getting used to it.

Whatever those two modules get combined into one is pointless to me as long as they work (barely) as now.
I have also learned manual docking and supercruise control once I have managed to get used to ship control method. I have no troubles hitting things with fixed mount type weapons in other games but here... I won't comment this any more.
