Distant Bowl SRV Edition

With the Distant Worlds Edition of the Speedbowl, I thought of making an SRV one too.

Instead of starting in ships on a high G planet on high altitude, we start with SRV's on the ground of a low G moon.
By flying the SRV and using altitude to your advantage, you can reach extremely fast speeds with an SRV, without the aid of geysers.

Where: JUENAE MI-B E2566 A 12 A (0.05G)
Time: Saturday 16th of March 15:00 IGT - Sunday 17th of March 14:59 IGT
Start Line: Anywhere you want, on the Ground
Goal: To reach the fastest speed possible before breaking Orbit

Rules:
Take a screenshot of your starting position, displaying speed (0), altitude (0), clock and body.
Use your wheels and thrusters to accellerate, gain altitude and speed. use "bumps" on the ground as ramps to boost you upwards.
Take another screenshot at maximum speed, facing a tilt angle of 0 degrees, going forwards.
Post screenshot in #distantbowl-results-submissions on fleetcomm discord.

The use of ships is NOT allowed for the duration of your attempt!

For general chatter about the event, use the #distantbowl-chat on fleetcomm discord

Example pic as I did on Quantum world:

As the moon for this event is bigger and has a bit higher gravity, I expect to breach the 1000 m/s mark.

Videos are welcome :D

Epic - love it! Commanders taking part in this might find the following infographic useful:

Make sure you're on the PC platform and on DrMorto's private group, and you're familiar with wing procedures and dropping into wing beacons
Register for the mass jump event at the following SIGN-UP SHEET
Our wing coordinators will send you a friend request, make sure to accept them.
Make sure you're present in the Sagittarius A* star system no later than 19:00, where you will be winged in by one of the coordinators.
Supercruise to the wing beacon of your coordinator and drop into our instance. Leave the wing after dropping to make room for the next CMDR. If you have any instancing problems dropping in, try messaging one of the other wing coordinators.
Keep 4 pips to SYS for maximum shield strength in case of any collisions. Be aware that other ships dropping in might me right on top of you.
Form up around the other ships in the instance and lock onto the Stuemeae KM-W C1-8086 star system (closest one on the nav panel).
At 19:55: After the fleet mass honk, standby for final checklists and announcements.
At 19:58: Charge your FSD and keep your throttle at zero.
At 20:00: Throttle up and engage.

*Builds epic highly engineered super low mass ICourier that hits 900m/s.

*Hears SRV honking to move out of the way...

Z...

In space no one can hear you honk.

But the in cockpit speakers will simulate it - like they do every other sound.

Or... they'll flash their light at you, and you'll see it in the rearview screen - which I stole from the 1990's...

For the super charging your fsd to jump from Goliath's Leap. Supercharge on arrival, so far for me even shutting the FSD down and repairing it or even exiting the game and returning the supercharge has remained until I've jumped - haven't tried docking at station, but as there is no station that can't have an affect. Removes the need to travel backwards and forwards.

LATECOMERS' MOBIUS PG EDITION

DISTANT WORLDS 2 - WP8 MASS JUMP

** This is not sanctioned by the DW2 Organizers. It is not an official DW2 event. **

** This particular event is for non-roster players only - the official WP8 Jump for those ON the roster is : Here **

JUMP 08:
Goliath's Rest departure from Waypoint 8, Sunday, March 24th, 20:00 UTC, Mobius Factions Private Group, PC

Swoals IL-Y e0--->Swoals RW-W D1-2

The following information is taken from the official WP8 Jump thread.

This coming Sunday, be a part of the second mass jump of the DW2 latecomers and also possibly history as this could be the first large scale neutron mass jump in Elite: Dangerous. Also, this would be a unique opportunity to screw up big time and get an instant teleport back to Explorer's Anchorage or even the bubble (if you skipped Waypoint 7). So this jump is not for the faint of heart but as true explorers say: no risk no fun. :D

This is the SIGN UP for LATECOMERS ONLY, for people NOT on the roster : SIGN-UP SHEET

  • There will be only one instance which will be coordinated on the Fleetcomm Discord channel pc-latecomers_mobius and also in the Wing 1 (No PTT) voice room too (also on Fleetcomm Discord)
  • Please check this forum post for any important updates after you have signed up, especially on Sunday.
  • Further information can be found below in the spoilers. (Stolen from Der Zeitgeist's post with permission.)

Further Details:

Swoals IL-Y e0--->Swoals RW-W D1-2, Mar 24th, 20:00 UTC

(Coordinated on the Fleetcomm Discord channel pc-latecomers_mobius and also voice coordinated in the Wing 1 (No PTT) channel):

  • CMDR rpotor

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE MASS JUMP
  • Make sure you're on the PC platform, in the Mobius Factions private group and you're familiar with wing procedures and dropping into wing beacons.
  • IMPORTANT: you'll be required to be in the Mobius Factions private group to be able to participate in this event. It is also recommended - but not required - that you join the Latecomers squadron (LCEX). If you are not yet in the Mobius Factions group, then unfortunately you won't be able to join in the fun, but you can start the application process to the PG by going here and following the instructions. Make sure you indicate on the sign-up form that you also would like to join the Mobius Factions PG. The approval process takes a few days, but hopefully you'll be able to join us at the next jump.
  • Make sure you will be able to actually reach the Swoals IL-Y e0 star system (WP8: Goliath's Rest). Please consult the current route map on how to get there.
  • Register for the mass jump event at the following SIGN-UP SHEET
  • Check your entry on the ROSTER to see which roster number your entry is at. An instance can comfortably hold roughly 60 ships, so that's our capacity. Which means that if your roster number is above 60, you will be put on a waiting list and will only be winged in if someone from the first 60 signups does not show up.
  • The wing coordinator will send you a friend request sometime before the event, make sure to accept it.
  • Familiarize yourself with the concept of neutron supercharging, if you have not done so before. The DW organizers have provided an instruction video for that, which also goes over the concept for this event. This other video also explains the intricacies of entering the jet cones of neutron stars very well. If you do not want to use the neutron supercharge, you can use an FSD injection to boost your jump range instead, if you have enough "jumponium" materials to do so.
  • Start gathering at the Hades Edge Basecamp on Swoals IL-Y e0 B 1 from 18:30. The wing coordinators will also be waiting there, so come join us as we go over final preparations. There will be no wing-in at that point yet, everyone can just land at the Basecamp by themself. This will also be a good opportunity to go over any questions you might still have.
  • At 19:00, we will all launch together from Basecamp, enter supercruise, and head over to the Swoals IL-Y e0 main neutron star. You should then supercharge your FSD at its jet cone. There's plenty of time to do so, so don't rush it and be careful! After your FSD is supercharged (or if you are simply using jumponium instead), get some distance to the neutron star and wait to be winged in to the jump instance.
  • At this point, please make sure that you really have the required range to reach our target system Swoals RW-W D1-2 (a jump range of 79LY is required) by either having supercharged from the neutron star or having boosted your FSD with a jumponium injection.
  • The wing-in to the jump point will start from about 19:30 and will continue to about 19:55. You will receive a wing invitation from one of our coordinators. Make sure you accept any friend requests from them, so they can add you to their wings.
  • Supercruise to the wing beacon of your coordinator and drop into our instance. Leave the wing after dropping to make room for the next CMDR. Before you drop in, put 4 pips to SYS for maximum shield strength and keep it set up like that in case of any collisions. Be aware that other ships dropping in might be right on top of you.
  • Form up around the other ships in the instance and lock onto the Swoals RW-W D1-2 star system (79 LY away).
  • Check your fuel levels and consumption at this point, and make sure they don't drop below the level needed to make the jump. If you have a small fuel tank, you might want to shut down your thrusters or other systems to conserve fuel. We might have a number of refueling ships with us, so if you need gas, just ask and we'll see if anything can be done.
  • At 19:55: After the fleet mass honk, standby for final checklists and announcements.
  • At 19:58: Charge your FSD and keep your throttle at zero.
  • At 20:00: Throttle up and engage. IMPORTANT: After you enter the jump, immediately throttle down again, because the jump target will be another neutron star!

There is no mass jump officially planned for tonight, right?

BTW, an enormous thank you for the organization at WP8, it was flawless! Even though I jumped an hour early, messed up with the time zones. And I also wan't able to believe how many people were there an hour early. I was absolutely certain that I came 15 minutes before the jump. Just to later realize I was there another hour extra early. Thanks for winging me in for the second time.

We are still doing our regular mass jumps. There's now a dedicated thread for them here. You can also find all important announcements on the #dw2-events and #dw2-massjumps channels on the Fleetcomm Discord server.
