It might be nice place to meet. Only 350Ly from WP7 / Sag A. On planet 1A in this system There are Sinous Tubers. this is planet 2A. You can "fly" sideways or backwards in SC over planet, at least relatively.
System: Myrielk XV-E d11-724 planet 2A

I am there right now and 2A is pretty amazing. The rings get as close as about 130K to the moon surface. This would be pretty unstable IRL. You can fly up to the rings in normal space. They are moving very quickly, so I've not dared to get up close, but flying normal space over the rings while in the 'frame' of the moon is pretty cool.
You can also do the opposite - fly in normal space in the rings and watch the planet go by below you 150K below.... Awesome find DartBatiatus!

Submitted for your viewing pleasure... a mildly interesting find. A mere 2 hops away from Explorer's Anchorage... ok, so they are about 77 LY hops each but who's counting? Anyway, I found a pair of undiscovered, binary ELWs. I'm not sure they count as a super special find but it was a pretty sight for sure.

(Forgive the photos. I tried to take some nice looking pictures but that unsightly Anaconda keeps photo bombing me.)

Description: Orbiting a neutron star is an unexpected and rare sight: A lone ringed waterworld with life, the only planet in the system. It's two rings bear many precious resources, among them Alexandrite and Musgravite. As it's atmosphere would most likely have been stripped away (if the planet had not been vaporized itself) during the main star's supernova had it already been part of the system at that time, it has probably either migrated from far away after this violent event or was formed on the spot by leftover materials of the nova.

Living Rings Competition

A competition is on to find and submit mining sites for the CG that contain life. Currently, we are looking mainly for Rocky rings as they contain the most Bauxite, which is the most efficient material to mine (can be done with regular mining beams). However, we would also like at least 1 site for Ice Rings as they contain Water and Liquid Oxygen. So please could you submit finds as follows:

1. Submit finds of life that is actually within either Rocky or Ice rings (i.e. the Notable Stellar Phenomenon must be in the rings)
2. Finds must be within 200ly of Explorer's Anchorage. This may be expanded if nothing else is found.
3. Finds must not be too far from entry point. 50,000ls seems like a good upper limit but you decide
4. Please submit here! Please remember to include system, body, ring type, and if it contains any hotspots relevant to the CG. Make sure to include how far it is from Explorer's Anchorage, how far it is from entry point, and if there is anything special about it (beautiful GG in the sky, twin stars, etc.). Also a screenshot!

Prizes:
We will choose winners on Saturday night and release them sometime after 19:00 UTC. If there are too few submissions, we will extend the competition indefinitely until either the CG ends or we get something worthwhile.

If more than one person submits the same location, unfortunately all we can do is award the person who submits first, unless a later submitter can prove through a codex entry that they discovered it first. We obviously won't accept the later submitter if they bring the evidence after winners have been selected, so apologies in advance if something like this happens.

The site we choose as the main (Rocky) site awards a prize of a free custom distant worlds mug, a Distant Worlds 1 patch and something from the Frontier store (skin, bobblehead etc.).

We will choose at least one Ice site, and the winner of that will get a Frontier store item (skin, bobblehead etc.) and a Distant Worlds 1 patch.

We may choose a few runner up sites. If so, each will be awarded an item from Frontier Store (skin, bobblehead etc.).

STUEMEAE KM-W C1-342 Planet 1 Icy Rings, Water/Oxygen contains solid mineral spheres, Prasinum Metallic Crystals, K-11 Anomaly (not in Codex/Wiki yet FDev has been informed). Icy only contains Water/Oxygen among other things. Image in Imgur. Original discoverer of the K-11 to my knowledge was CMDR Fyrestorm, I'm CMDR Payperheirplain both on here/game and Discord. Has hotspots but I don't recall if any are relevant to CG goals. 1630ls from entry 2.51LY from EA in system with the WP7 base camp.

It's after 19:00 UTC now, and we don't have too many submissions yet. Should we assume the deadline is extended and continue searching?

Yes. I have announced on discord Payperheirplane's submission (it's in the basecamp system, so shocked nobody else submitted it lol) as the mining location, but said that the doors are still open for submissions.

I was needing a place to stop for the night, so I started looking for interesting land-able moons (mostly with Volcanic Activity or biological life). I saw this otherwise unremarkable moon (Leamiae VR-H d11-6840, body 1c) in the Empyrean Straits Region (around 6 - 7 kLY from WP 7) that had a notable white splotch on it. So, I figured, it was as good a place as any to stop for the night. As I approached, it was a binary moon, but body 1c had a HUGE white splotch on it. And, it also has a rather large crater:

Naturally, I changed tack and headed to the crater instead. It is a massive crater, at least 10 km deep (that is what the altimeter said). So, I landed my trusty Krait, Mk II, on the edge of the crater (coordinates -68.7106 degrees Latitude and -63.1715 degrees Longitude):

So, then, I did what any (in)sane commander would do. I hopped into one of my SRV's and drove off the edge. In VR. It was more of a tumble then a vertical drop, but through the assistance of several hull repair syntheses, I reached the bottom safely. So, I think I am going to explore this crater and moon for a bit, but I thought that I would share some snaps.

Has anyone ever noticed strange geometric patterns or symbols embedded within the clouds of nebulae? I took these shots in a system just outside the Wulfric nebula and noticed these unusual patterns. They definitely do not appear "natural". Are they graphical artifacts or nebulous Nazca Lines? You be the judge.

Glad I'm not the only one to see that. I thought space madness was starting to set in. ;)

My poi submission is for Quemeou cl-y e9
Sadly I cannot provide a screenshot as of yet as I cannot get it from my console to my tab (screenshot is on the dw2 ps4 community)

This system while unremarkable in appearance is the highest point relative North of sag a* that is possible to go. What makes it stand out off the stunning view of the entire galaxy below and the abyss staring into your soul from above. Nothing but the blackness of intergalactic space staring back at you.

I think Montgomery reach would be a fitting name after Montgomery Scott and his fears of engineering keeping the enterprise going in its discovery of new places

Guardian symbols?

I've never seen that, but I do see a crosshatch effect. My money is on both being rendering artifacts. It'd be great if I'm wrong though.

I've only seen it inside some nebulae, since 3.3. It's probably a new artifact.
