E3 2015 speculations for Elite

Keep hoping. The mission system is barely satisfactory, even after PP. I hardly see how they could already come up with planetary landing.

Things are developed in parallel. Mission system is complex beast with generated content using background sim/power system as input.

Isn't it amusing that the people that backed this from the start are usually the last to find out about new stuff ;)

That's right. I am confident they have worked on the Planetary module already and will probably keep doing so. On, the other hand David Braben himslef said he didn't want planets with nothing to do on them. Which means it requires at least a good mission system, not to mention atmospheric flight and first person view possibility (so more or less FPS). So it is for me utterly unlikely to see planetary landing as the first paid expansion. Not even the second in my opinion.

I think it would be neat if we could have landings on planetary spaceports before the big "Land wherever you want / go hunt Bugblattered Beasts in an alien Jungle" style planetary landings they were dreaming of in some interview... though I suppose one of the big things to solve is making the Surface Feature Generation for planets... which would be needed even for the spaceports part...

What would you do after landing 10 times on a planet? Looking by the window of your ship? I believe this game needs more actual content or gameplay, not a mere start port on a planet, which is purely cosmetic.

My personal prediction: Walking around on ships + boarding announced. This will be included in the Xbox version for free (£49.99), whereas PC gamers will have to pay for it (£9.99). There will be much wailing on the forums! :D

I think it will be fair to say there be much waling on the forums no matter what is announced. ;-)

i can completely agree on that. I have predicted previously that first expansions will be walking around and boarding - it's doable comparingly faster and don't require huge dev hours investment. I know lot of people want landings badly (myself included)...but knowing their vision and amount of work involved...they better get everything else polished and shiny first (including core gameplay).

How about when E3 starts? Which should be "soon" given that it is taking place in LA.

Frontier will probably be releasing a new game at E3 and also Xbox players will be coming online around then.

E£ is this week..., so Xbox players will be coming online in Elite Dangerous ... this week???

What your basis for that?
