E3 2015 speculations for Elite

indeed.

gta like is a lot (too much) to expect BUT....... there are some very good procedural city generators out there now so some detail is possible

further more wildlife is much easier to do procedurally (look at no mans sky) and on top of that iirc I read that Skyrim was done procedurally - albeit with a wide manual brush painted over the top afterwards.

I think the tricky part is going to be the people and the traffic. Roads and buildings can be done although they will get "samey" faster than you might think, people are very good at spotting patterns in the way things are laid out, but roads and buildings don't move. To give life to a city you need vehicles and crowds, and they all have to be moving (the problem gets harder when the road layouts the cars have to navigate are themselves automatically generated).
It's already an issue in space stations; apart from the ships themselves and the yellow trucks endlessly circling around they are like ghost towns.

Yeah, my guess is either a demo/beta, or a typo on the PEGI site. No way they'd launch the full thing without any advertising, it'd get drowned out during E3.

Exactly my thoughts, although ED has non-mainstream audience. They'd be slightly insane to release it right now anyway. The game needs MUCH more work and balancing before it could survive on consoles. I don't think ED is exactly unpolished, but it's almost unheard of for console games to be released in mid-development. Imagine if someone buys it in Game/CEX and finds they have 10 new ships to buy in 4 months time, and there's a new galaxy map with different stuff to the original game. ED needs to be less beta/more game to get a foothold on the XboxOne.

So the announcement was about the x..thing.. Meh..all excited for nothing.

There has been no announcement or any mention of an "announcement".
Someone decides there must be an announcement for there hasn't been on up until this point.
Speculate on what the announcement that hasn't been announced might be were it to be announced..
Read speculation and heresy.
Jump to conclusion about what announcement must be.
Decide that the announcement that hasn't been announced is massively disappointing.
Post on forum expressing disappointment about the announcement that hasn't been announced.
How very dare they etc.

Kerrash just said there's more ED stuff than XBO port. So let's just wait.....

Yeah. He did seem rather over-excited about something on twitter a few days ago, but that just might be Kerrash :) He is going to Los Angeles with the Frontier crew after all.

I think it's going to be an Anaconda paint job. But it will be be branded with Microsoft Xbox One all over it.
Oh and it will be the xbox one port demo with news that the first exclusive release for the Xbox (not avail to pc / mac for a month) are officially licensed Star wars paint jobs for all the ships. Yes Rebel and Empire versions.

I asked someone who knows about converting games from one platform to another (not employed by Frontier but very well qualified to answer the question) and they said they'd probably need between 6 and 24 people to do the Xbox conversion, depending on stuff he couldn't know.

They don't need to convert from one platform to another. The underlying Cobra engine is, and always has been, multi-platform. And the XBox is essentially a PC anyway.

No, I demand answers now! :)

The MS conference will likely be xbox-centric, but I hope Frontier can spill the beans on any other news (if any) sooner rather than later.

I am no dev, but given an XB1 is essentially an AMD APU powered PC running a cut down windows 8, and given they they have already ported the game to a mac, shoudl it not be fairly trival?

And the Xbone port demo will actually be playing on PC's.

1 Thing I do know about Frontiers announcement is that given past examples (1.3), we can expect something to be added that no player ever wanted or asked for and it will also alienate half the player base by being inaccessible to players with 500000000000000hrs a week to play.
