ED - A Script Kiddie's Wet Dream

Specifics on working stuff can't be discussed here. But yes, reporting to Frontier would be the correct thing.

Without being specific, can you give info on how sophisticated these bots are? For example, can you confirm whether these bots are capable of:

  • flying between stations
  • seeking out appropriate targets
  • dropping on specific types of USS
  • engaging in moderately skilled combat
  • scooping up materials
  • mining
  • making efficient trades
  • using the neutron highway
  • landing on planets

I ask because whatever the bots can't do should probably be used as basis for required mechanics on key competitive enterprises.

I don't think that would have an answer, that would mean OA knows about bots that maybe FD doesn't know, and wouldn't be fair

Well, since this is the first MMO I've ever played I had to go look some of this stuff up. I was under the impression that they were for things like auto-aiming (like they have for CoD or WoW - along with a lot of youtube videos showing users getting banned for their use while they stream their actions and use).

And yeah, I admit it: I've never created a macro for anything anywhere, even for MS Word.
Hey! I'm old.

Oh noooos not my precious BGS! I've work so hard to flip a system from being a democracy to monarchy! How will Queen Inbredface the 2nd of the wolf 42-7b green party ever claim her throne!?

My excel spreadsheets! My careful plans....No....RUINED! YOU ANIMALS!
Where will I find such a system again with such.... wait what? There like 5 different minor factions in game that all act and behave the same way? I can literally go next door and find the same thing?

Well Im off to pollute the human pool with more monarchies and "royalty"

Let's be real here for a minute.

The vast majority of the playerbase aren't even capable of this.

That's kind of the point of my question ;)

If bots can't fight well, then maybe there is a chance that Frontier can implement required skill based analog mechanics that (good) players can use to beat cheaters via human skill. On the other hand, if bots can do this then there really isn't any point to attempting to police them.

So after some googling I can say the following.
In my opinion the bots are not an issue. They bypass the grind nature of the game and it's stuoid limitations for example "all 30 minutes you are allowed to buy 10 pieces of cargo X.".
While any normal person would just store the cargo somewhere until at full load, Elite doesn't allow you to store cargo...
This is a major issue and bots basically do just that. They take away the need to be present to fulfill a basic task (that by the way any other player could do) and allow you to do other stuff (like going to work) in the meantime.
It's basically the nature of the bots but the long term effect is that when the player comes back, he/she has done alot of work at once instead of being limited to a maximum every 30 minutes. So the limited got shifted to a multiplier of each period passed during absence, however, while still being limited to X pieces per Y time units. Let it be missions, powerplay, data selling, UA bombing or meta alloy farming or anything else.
It's not like the game rules are broken. Any other player could do that as well, however, most of the players are annoyed by stupid limitations like 10 pieces of powerplay cargo every 30 minutes. It just doesn't make sense.

If there weren't stupid limitations like that and if players could unfold their full potential in regards to work and reward per time unit, then bots wouldn't be a thing.
They only exist because the game limits the player's capabilities and thus their potential. Bots bypass these limitations by fulfilling a basic task in the absence of the player.

Then why did you say this when the working stuff is well hidden?

'This is a very real thing, and all the answers are one quick Google search away.'
Exactly, very contradictory. At first the evidence is easy to find and then suddenly it's "well hidden". Which is it OA? Or are you just back tracking now?

Ozzie? Sounds Kiwi to me. He's definitely not English that's for certain.

I can't say for sure but I'd put OA somewhere north of london, or at least North of my old neck of the woods which was on the south coast, and yeah He is a Englishman. How anyone got Australian or Kiwi from that voice is odd.

i always thought he was Welsh

Skip to about 2 mins to get south and north welsh.

What surprises me the most about this, is how so few people are aware of it.

I was certainly unaware of bots. If they are being used (and I'll take this as a given ATM) I would agree it needs to be looked into by FD ASAP.
