ED Nominated for Evolving Game BAFTA

Engineers aren't quite as bad. They're fairly optional, for one :)

I have more fun finding "stuff" in NMS than in ED, just walking around collecting things (I also liked alchemy in TES games so probably explains why I like NMS!). Granted the more difficult survival modes are a bit worse, but that's the whole point of those modes. Any survival game has the same concepts, that's the core of NMS it's a survival exploration game FAR more than the Elite style space/trading/shooter.

Actually it's probably evolved more than any other game out there.
Ed is an evolution of a 30 year old game. The mechanics and gameplay have not changed that much, but the look and technology has been used to bring it bang up to date, squeezing as much out of the tech that it can.
And new gameplay features are being added constantly (for better or worse maybe) and look as if they are likely to continue into the future.

Remember sharks of today have evolved from prehistoric ones and look largely unchanged on the surface. If something works, don't go changing the basics. Swim faster than prey, have big teeth. Simple, but works.

No, you don't get to do that. This award is about Elite:Dangerous, not the Elite franchise.

There are hundred, franchises that could claim "evolution" if that were the case.

Congratulations, FD!

And some like both :)

NMS is so much better at planetary exploration.

Elite more realistic and better space "flight".

Both scratch different itches for me.
Yup.

Elite is far better with the "real-feel" of things. And the galaxy, mapping and routes etc, also feels real in Elite. NMS, it feels like the galaxy just have stars and planets scattered around randomly, like skittles thrown on a floor.

But then, being able to walk around, inside stations and capital ship, building, mining, driving, diving, all that, only NMS can give that feeling.

Personally I want someone to do a mixture of the two and I'll be happy.
It would be awesome.

True

Thats the thing. I don't actually like NMS planetary exploration. There is something on every single planet you go to and after a whle nothing feels special.
Yeah. One thing that kind'a bug me a little in NMS.

Elite feels expansive, huge, the infinite horizon where millions of empty planets exist and just few rare things can be found here and there. It feels right and real. While NMS you find the rare diamonds in every drawer you look. Not so rare anymore. (And on a sidenote, that's what I don't like with the new mining and hotspots in Elite, every other system has rings with void opal hotspots... why pay so much for something that common?)

Elite's space, planets, flight, so much better.

NMS, it's a bit of minecraft in space. It's more like just random fun.

I am hopeful that the next expansion will be atmospheric planets and my hope is that they add a plethora of different activities that can be done on planets too.

Then when thats done, they can start looking at adding Elite Feet of some kind. Probably a couple of years after the next expansion comes out.
Something that I still would want to experience again is some of the planetary missions in Mass Effect. Going to a planet, that's mostly void, and one single secret underground base you looked for, went in to, and shot some baddies, and go the cargo you were looking for or whatever. Or finding that small station that was occupied by terrorists and you took them out and saved the prisoner, etc. Need planets and feet for that, but hopefully also rare and distant places.

No, you don't get to do that. This award is about Elite:Dangerous, not the Elite franchise.

There are hundred, franchises that could claim "evolution" if that were the case.

Not all of them.
C. O. D. & Fifa football
Being examples.

But elite dangerous is changing within itself. So it still qualifies I think.
