I managed to fix that issue as well by setting the EDMC executable to run as Administrator.

Is there a way to disable this part of the overlay (only shown on set routes or when jumping) as I do see it a bit disturbing:

Yes, in the igm_config.v[number].ini file which you can find in the config folder.

1. Make a copy, rename it with a user_ prefix.
2. Open the user_ prefixed version of the config file.
3. Look for the [navroute] section.
4. Change enabled = True to enabled = False
5. Save.
6. Relaunch EDMC.
