Copied from the EDSM thread..

I have been exploring HIP stars at the top of the galaxy. Those systems visited by first jumping in with the FC are not being recorded on EDSM. I think normally EDdisccovery would look for an entry like this...

"event":"FSDJump", "StarSystem":"HD 129921", "SystemAddress":10209380723, "StarPos":[-1281.87500,2154.00000,108.96875]

but when entering a system on a FC this entry does not exist(?).
So EDDiscovery may have a problem identifying when a Commander is actually on a fleet carrier rather than a ship, when it jumps into a system.

edit: this raises an interesting question.
There may be multiple commanders on the FC, but not even the owner, so who gets the first visited by tag?

First discovered on EDSM is just the first journal it sees, so the one whose online, in game and with the fastest internet connection I would assume.

HIP 67396 is not in EDSM.

Any other explanation is welcome, as is a suggestion how I can get HIP 67396 system data into EDSM, without going back there. And even that may not work.
Note that HD 126199 , the system I jumped to, is recorded in EDSM by expugnax (me) at about the right time. I always have EDD and EDSM linked, so it did work that time.

Not having ever been on a carrier I'm not completely up to speed on how the journals look, but there are no carrier related journals in the list that doesn't get sent to EDSM so they should have gone. You can use the Admin->Synchronise With EDSM->Send Unsynced Journals to EDSM menu option to be sure none fell down the cracks of the internet.

If it still doesn't show up then it's become an EDSM question, I think.

I didn't know you could do this, but it is also possible to upload the journals directly to EDSM.
Having done that to no effect, I now believe the issue to be an EDSM question.

If I get it correctly there's a delay in updating the 2d map, it actually don't show where your real time location is? Is it possible to manually update this somehow?

The 2D map currently only refreshes on a history refresh. You can force a history refresh by clicking the Refresh button in the main window toolbar. Perhaps we should add a Refresh button to the 2D map to redraw it without needing a full history refresh?

I recently DL-ed the program and I love it! I've been playing ED F for 3 months now and to be able to see every step in my "carreer" is amazing. One question though (tried to search it but couldn't find it): the years are creeping up on me and I'm starting to have trouble reading small print. Still in the denial phase of purchasing a pair of reading glasses. So is there a way to increase the letter size in the EDDiscovery?

Go to the settings tab. Click 'edit theme', click on the box that contains the 'font' and choose whatever you like.

You should be able to edit the font in the theme editor (click Edit Theme on the Settings panel, then click the Font in the theme editor)

I see that it seems to be re-scanning all my journals. Presumably due to the new json decoder. Might have been a good idea to warn about this in case people don't notice the activity in the bottom border and think the prog has frozen. It didn't take too long though.

It won't be because to the new decoder. It may be because the previous system sometimes left files partially decoded if they contained an error in them. In which case its just making sure.

In a previous version of EDD I found I could type in galactic coordinates and EDD would then find the nearest system. I thought it was a part of the route planner, but that doesn’t now seem to work. I know I’m not imagining things. Has this capability been removed??
