Release EDEngineer - an overlay to track your blueprint progress in realtime

I wanted to ask if there is a way to get rid of old commanders in ED Engineer. I have started a second account but was toying with different commander names so now when i start up ED Engineer I have different commander tabs. Is it possible to delete the ones I'm not using?

+1 this request. I had a friend come over to try VR and he logged in with his account details. ED Engineer actually used his account as the default and lists him first. Would be nice to delete.

The best way would be to delete the log files in the Elite Dangerous folder directly ; keeping them but making the app ignore somewhat ignore them wouldn't be ideal I believe. Also, EDEngineer should remember which commander you selected last and make it selected by default when you open the app, let me know if that isn't the case.

Only wish I could use the overlay mode on Win7 which I know won't happen due to Win being so old etc *cries* I go by the old adage "if it ain't broke why fix it!" kinda of thing

As far as I know, nothing keeps you from using the app in overlay mode. The only requirement is to play in Windowed mode (which is available in W7 isn't it?). The limitation that W7 has is the use of toast notifications which is why I added voice notifications in the first place :)

Thanks for the prompt reply. I would like to delete the other log files but it's not obvious which logs are from the other account. If you have a way of easily identifying, please do tell.

Edit: If it's a simple grep to identify command names, or similar, that would be ideal. However do the log files include multiple account data? If so deleting may also delete valid account data.

Edit 2: Having said that, I have to question the need to keep old log files. Is there any real need if they are over 6 months old, say?

A log file contains info only about a single commander.
For EDEngineer you can delete all your previous logs. The game now generates a dump of your cargo upon logging in so the app can catch up (it used to not do that so in the past I would have told you not to delete your old logs) ; but beware that other apps might need your legacy data for any reason. If you just use EDEngineer then it's fine.

Ah golden, deleted all the log files, well moved to another place, started up ED and it generated a new log and started up ED Engineer and all up to date and single commander only :D

Yeah about the overlay mode it was something I was trying to do when streaming but I worked around it instead and I love the new voice notifications which help me out ALOT. I should have read the documents better but I've only just started doing hardcore engineering the last week or so. :D

Another 3rd party app I can't play Elite Dangerous without

oh and another side effect it seems to have re populated my ship yard in EDDI to atleast most of the ships I had other than the last 4 new ships that I bought recently but I've heard that FD changed something on the API and EDDI hasn't been updated for it yet maybe.

Quick check - will EDEngineer keep separate any data from the open beta (2.3.10)? Or would it be better to not run EDEngineer with this beta?

this is such a godsend :D thanks.

can we get a way for it to pull the Hud Color data so it can match? I dont use the standard orange often.

Yeah it should simply ignore the logs from beta

Recoloring is actually quite tricky because there needs to be some coherency in the scheme ; I experimented a bit with blues, yellows and whatnot and it looks really bad if the other colors aren't adapted (like when a mouse is over a clickable element, or when you expand a blueprint etc...). Making the color configurable would require making most of the colors configurable which isn't impossible but making it somewhat usable from a UX point of view is pretty darn tricky (you don't want to end up with 10 different color pickers).

Hey there,

Have been running this awesome tool without any issues, just installed the latest beta of ED Horizons and since then the tool appear, I can see the process running but no window appears anymore :( any suggestions (also no icon appearing ion teh task tray)

Anyone know how to delete a CMDR from ED Engineer?

I've got 2 FD accounts, so both of those are on ED Engineer, but I recently asked Frontier to rename my CMDR - which they did - and ED Engineer added the new name automatically, but left the old one in there.

Thanks to the dev for this - it's an incredibly useful tool. I never load ED without EDE running as well.

I'm pretty sure that the program just reads from your logs, so you'd have to delete the older logs that reference the previous CMDR. At least, that's my understanding:)

It would be appreciated to have the app allow regular function keys as show/hide triggers, instead of requiring a modifier key such as CTRL.

Another improvement would be to show the ranges/potential outcomes of the various recipes.

Some new data and material items from the latest update.

thanks a lot ! I've updated the app to integrate the new data, as well as the new engineer contribution event
